Hello, pmanso, instead of "deleting the files," open the "Disk Management."

  • Click on the "Start" button.
  • Next, {Alt / Right} click on the Computer 'shortcut' select "Manage."
  • In the next 'window that opens, 'open the "Disk Management" in the [Left area] of the 'window.' won't delete back up files - paul7of9_98.jpg
  • Now, look 'under' the "Volume" tab, paul7of9_99.jpg and find the 'External' [HDD] 'letter' ie: (F:).
  • Next, click on the "Volume" to open, and select to "Delete Volume..."
!Attention: If you are "still" having a 'problem deleting the {Data).
  • Try "Formatting" the Volume.
  • Now, if this isn't working out to 'well,' open the "Properties" from the 'same' location.
  • Perform a [Disk Cleanup], and 'delete' alwon't delete back up files - paul7of9_100.jpgc="/uploads/images/paul7of9_100.jpg" alt="paul7of9_100.jpg" class="h_mi" />
  • All {areas} are accessible, by "alt / right click on "Volumes."
  • Restart the Computer when finished!

500 songs, all gone but wont allow other downloads, "too full"

Re: 500 songs, all gone but wont allow other downloads, "to full"

Use settings "format" on mp3 player. This will delete any hidden files. If you download in one format (say like Ubuntu) and delete them under another (say Windows), files can remain in *.trash which is hidden. To avoid this in the future, try deleting with shift+del as it will bypass the trash folder.

How do I delete files, drive is full.

Download and run ccleaner to get rid of the junk files on it.

But if they are all personal files then select and delete individual files in windows explorer.

The drive says only 50 gb are available even though I deleted all the backups. How do I wipe it clean and start over?

Hi,

If you can still see that 50Gb are available you can format the drive so that all files will be wiped out. Before you do that make sure you back the files. Just right click on the drive then click on format.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I have had a Seagate 500 for some time, when I went to use it yesterday I had a message ' You need to Format the disk in drive .. before you can use it' Will this delete the items on the disk or can I...

yeah for sure this will delete all files and folders on the drive if you choose to perform the format may be the file system on your drive has got corrupted you can get the data recovered by some professional and then format it .but opt for this one only if you have some really valuable data on the drive as data recovering is quite a expensive.

I can't backup files, because it says I have no more room. How can I fix this?

Delete some files or backups. If your backups are appending or creating a new file every time without replacing the old ones, it will eventually fill up.

If the drive is not full, it may be your file system. If the partition is formatted FAT32, you have a maximum file size of 4 GB. The backup will proceed until the file size reaches 4 GB, then it will close out and the rest of the files will not be backed up.

Using Disk Management, you can create a new partition, this tiime NTFS. Unfortunately, you'll lose all files on the drive when you partition so you'll need a place to move the files to temporarily.

Computer will not recognize the Seagate FreeAgent Pro 500 GB

If the hard drive is new and still unformatted, you will need to format it. Confirm that it is recognized in disk management (start>control panel>administrative tools>computer management) Go to the list on the left and expand "storage." Then click disk management. You should see your drives listed. Find your seagate 500GB drive, right click on it and then click format. It will take awhile for a 500 GB drive but once it is done, the drive should be usable.

WARNING: this will delete any files on the drive, meaning that if it is not new and you have files on it already, then they will be deleted.
