The lens error is due to failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the Nikon service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Brand new nikon s6100 camera and the lens wont open or close fully. Charged the battery and still the same. What the heck ? It will be very frustrating if I have to continue like this. Please advise

Hi,
There is a problem with the lens....there is dirt stuck in it or it is out of calibration.
Turning it on and off many times can fix it sometimes if it is a calibration issue or if it is just too tight to work properly...

After a number of tries, if it still does not work, then do not try to force it or do anything.
Return it under warranty and get a different one... you got a lemon...

Despite my samsung L50 camera being fully charged I cant get it to switch on. The blue light flicks on then dies away again with a bleeping noise. I can however view previously taken photos by pressing the...

Here is a website that lists the things to do and check to try to fix this problem:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/simple-fix-for-dead-cameras-that-wont.html
Mostly this consists of ensuring that the battery is good, and holding a full charge, and also making sure the battery contacts are clean, both on the battery and inside the camera.
As a last thing to check, the switch could be bad. The next web blog talks about another problem the camera could be having, which is a lens "stuck" issue:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
Even though it says lens error, it still apllies to stuck lens.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

It will not turn on and it flashes a orange light

This is most likely a power problem, but could also be a stuck lens. Here's a couple of website that explain what you can try to get it working:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/simple-fix-for-dead-cameras-that-wont.html
and:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
A stuck camera lens can cause this problem, also, but it's usually a power problem. Make sure your battery is fully charged, and the battery and camera terminals are clean (clean with a qtip and at least 90% isopropyl alcohol).
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Kodak v803 wont turn on

i had the same problem, if you try to turn the lens in as if you turning a dile, the lens will go back in manually once you have the lens completly in again, as if the camera is switched off, then turn the camera back on at the power button and the camera will operate as normal, this worked for me i hope it works for you too.

Lens stuck open will not retreat battery fully charged when it is turned on lens moves in and out but will not fully close

The problem you are describing is a problem with something in the lens assembly of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $66.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Lens stuck halfway open

Fully charge the battery or connect the camera to the power supply (if you have an ac adaptor).
If it still does not work, it means that the lens is broken.
Reason can be that the camera was in your pocket pr carrying bag and the camera inadvertantly open and the lens mechanism was damaged. In this case, it needs repair.

Camera wont turn on, intermittent red power coming on

This may or may not work (it's primarily a trick for certain Canon cameras with similar symptoms). Remove the cameras battery, then remove the memory card. Insert a BRAND NEW or fully charged rechargeable batteries. DO NOT insert the memory card. Instead, just turn on the camera. If the lens retracts, turn off the camera, insert the memory card, then restart the camera.

If this doesn't work, here are some other things to try. But don't get your hopes up, as they only seem to work for little less than half the cameras with similar problems:
