Hi,
That is not that hard to fix and you can easily buy the parts yourself
online...
Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...
Common faults - 1 Theheating elementscan fail
(meaning open circuit) 2 There arecut-outs (T.O.C's)that
might need resetting 3 Thethermostats (stats)can trip
out or burn out (meaning opencircuit) 4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors andpcb's (Printed circuitboards)thesehave
programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode
showing you were the fault is. 5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be
the fault.
For now, take a wire clothes hanger and bend a small 90 degree hook on the end. Poke the hook in one of the holes where the handle went and pull the door open. Then maybe you can find a replacement handle.
Sounds as if the door switch/latch had stuck.the smell was probably a small short. try unplugging unit. But I would imagine you need door latch/switch replaced
