You will need to remove the belt and replace with a new belt. If the belt is broken kindly get the same type with the dimensions for replacement.
Place the belt on the drive wheel and run it over the motor pulley and manually turn it on so as to fit it into the slot.

Iha a Whirlpool 852592-a model washer. everything work except the spin cycle. when the spin does not work you can open the lid and move the basket around and it will work for a while. What can it be?

It may be belt driven, if so then the belt is too loose and must be tightened or replaced, or maybe a belt pulley is loose, you should be able to hear squeaking or some other noise if the belt or pulley is loose but maybe not.

Washer fills with water as usual then it will try to agitate and spin at same time.

WASHER SPINS AND AGITATES AT SAME TIME:

( Belt drive) I SUSPECT YOU HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION SPRING ITS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE OR DIFFICULT TO FIX. YOU CAN INSPECT IT BY TURNING MACHINE ON ITS SIDE AND LOOKING AT THE TRANSMISSION SPINDLE, SHOULD BE LOCATED UNDER THE PULLEY WHEELS AND MOTOR ( ON BELT DRIVE MODELS). U WILL NOTICE A SPRING ABOUT 2-3 INCHES LONG GOING AROUND THE SPINDLE IT SHOULD ALL BE ONE PIECE IF IYTS BROKEN OR CRACKED ETC IT NEEDS REPLACING. -

Another thing to Check is the wig/wag solenoid also in some models. The cam shaft may have slid and broken away from wig wag solenoid

( Direct drive) a simple way of determining with spin or agitate problem is with your washer's transmission (also called a gearcase) or some other part like a clutch or a drive motor coupler. And usually the problem is in the transmission itself in direct drive models. When it comes to spin and agitate at same time.

your next step is toremove the cabinetand jumper the lid switch harness (tan to gray). Put the unit in spin and watch the shiny metal clutch disc that is on top of the transmission where the shaft comes out. If the machine starts and runs in spin, check to see if the disc is spinning. If it is, then the problem isnot in the gearcase- look for trouble in theclutch(see the "Clutch" section below),basket driveor thetub drive block(see the "Drive Block" section below).
If, on the other hand, the disc is NOT spinning, check for a problem withthe motor drive coupleror one of its retainers. This washer doesn't have a belt. Instead, the motor is directly coupled to the gearcase by a drive coupler; that's why it's called a direct drive washer. BTW, replacing the motor coupler is probably the single most common repair on this washer.

Whirlpool ite6234d thin twin could someone tell me in detail where the belt is located in the washer?

I can not find your model number that you posted.
I can tell you that all whirpool thin twins up to last year were direct drive with no belt except for the dryer section. Whirlpool stackers from the early eighties did have a washer belt if yours is this old replace the entire machine.

Trying to locate the belt on a Whirlpool washer

Hi:
Your washer does not have a belt. It has a transmission, and they seem not to fail very often. Usually, the problem lies with the timer or some other switch. What exactly happens when your spin cycle comes around? Normally, after the wash cycle, the machine stops, then the spin cycle starts in the opposite rotation. The first thing that happens is the water is pumped out, then as the speed increases, the spinning throws the rest of the water out of your clothes. If your machine does pump down the water, but doesn't spin fast, then you might have a transmission problem, but if it also fails to pump out the water, you could have a timer or switch problem, as some machines won't spin with the lid open, and if the switch is broken, the machine thinks the lid is open.

Whirpool duet washer. Drum pulley loose

If the pulley doesn't fit the shaft anymore, it may have sheared a metal key between the shaft and pulley center. If it did, you may have to replace both the key and pulley. If the key is intact and the set-screw is only loose, just tighten the screw and you're home free. Make sure the belt has not been damaged--replace it if so. The belt should be fairly tight when things are back together.

Not sure if manifold is leaking

Leaks water...check the pump first. The fill valve and hoses may be the next step. See how to take apart info. With the use of plastic drain hoses on many machines today, this has become a common leak trouble maker. The drain hose can rub the wall or a pipe and this will rub a hole in the drain hose.

I have a whirlpool duet. I had washed 8 towels 2

To get inside the machine for a look, you have to take the back panel off,
1. Pull the plug
2. Turn off and then Disconnect the HOT and COLD water hoses at the machine
3. Remove bottom, side and all but 2 top corner screws from the back panel (all around the outer edges only) then supporting the panel, remove one corner screw, let the panel down on that side, then remove the other.
4.Remove panel
5. Grab a light, look inside.

My guess is that the spinning, wobbling drum worre a hose thru.

Good Luck!
Hint: Put all the back panel screws in loose, all the way around... then tighten them

It sounds like the coupling between the motor and gearbox has worn out. It should cost around $15 plus shipping and handling.
