I have a ps3 and want to play the metal solid 1(original game). I've read that to be able to save during the game that I need a ps1 memory board to add to the ps3. What type of memory card is it? Minisd, compact? Can't seem to find that out. Thanks

I have a silver slim ps2 model number SCPH-77001. Everytime I play a ps1 game on it (which it has no problems with) it wont read my ps1 memory card. I've tried it on both slots, tried 4-5 other ps1...

You shouldnt have too. I think I know the problem. Turn on your ps2 without a game in it and it would take you to the home screen. After that go to browser with your ps1 memory card and select it. And then it should give you an option to format it. Hope this helps

My ps2 slim memory cards work on the main screen, but i'm trying to play a ps1 game and as i try to save the game, it says that there is no memory card present. I bought another card with more memory.....

You can't save PS1 games on a PS2 memory card. You need to buy a PS1 memory card to save PS1 games. The PS1 card will plug into the standard memory slot on a PS2, but the insides are different.

Can i still play my ps2 games on my new ps3??

Hello, unfortunately most PlayStation 3s are not backwards-compatible. The 60GB PlayStation console is but it is very expensive as they are very limited edition.

Can not create internal memory card, whenever I try I returned back to the screen that says name a internal memory card.

http://ps3explained.com/intermediate/internal-memory-cards/
Create an Internal Memory Card on the PLAYSTATION 3 system HDD as follows:

1. Navigate to [Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)] under [Game] on the XMB.
2. Press “X” to bring up the “New Internal Memory Card” option.
3. Tell the PLAYSTATION 3 which format you want it to create. PS2 or PS1.
4. Highlight “OK” and press “X” to finish creating the memory card.

Note that you can make new saves on this card while playing PS2 or PS1 games on the PS3, but it does not allow you to transfer saves from a physical memory card to the PS3's HDD. You need the memory card adapter to do that.

What games beside ps3 games are compatible with the ps3

It depends on your system the 40g will play ps1, but not ps2. The 60g or above will play both.

Ps3 memory storage

Yes, its easy. Under the game menu, you should see something along the lines of Manage Memory Cards. Create a PS1 memory card, then assign it to slot 1.

Ps1 disc playing in ps2

Are you inserting a PS2 or a PS1 memory card?
PS1 games can't use a PS2 card because they don't "understand" how to read them.
To save a PS1 game on a PS2 you will need a PS1 memory card.

I hope this helps, I assume this is what you are referring to with your question.

Playstation card

Your question is somewhat confusing, using a playstation 2 memory card, will have PS2 game saves on it, how would you play PS2 games on a PS1 from the save, you can't. If you just mean you are using a PS2 card for a PS1, the way a PS2 card saves data is different to a PS1 card, so it probably won't work You can use your PS1 memory cards in the PS2. You can only use the PS1 memory cards to save PS1 games that you are playing in your PS2. You can't save any PS2 game data to a PS1 memory card
