Panasonic PT53WX42F with same problem. 3 blinks after power on for a few seconds, no picture or sound. Solution: replaced two convergence ICs (STK392-XXX) located on the large green printed circuit board. ICs are very large and screwed into two large heat sinks and soldered to board. Cost is approximately $6 each. Easy to replace if careful. May be able to access solder joints on bottom of board by removing screen on bottom of cabinet or simply remove 4 screws that anchor plastic holder to cabinet and tilt up. I did not disconnect any inter-board connections. Remove heat sink screws. Desolder using suction bulb or solder sucker. Works great. Finish off with solderwick braid if necessary to clear holes. 40 watt iron is enough do not apply too much heat to damage board lands. Remove IC. Clean heat sink by scraping away white heat sync compound. Apply generous amount of heat sync compound to new IC and coat evenly. Align and insert new IC holes, resolder with thin resin core solder being careful not bridge lands. Refasten to heat sink. Clean board and inspect for good joints and no bridging. Refasten plastic board holder. Carefully clean projection lenses while back is off tv. Power up and it should be fixed. Parts are obtainable on-line. Solder tools and board cleaner are available at Radio Shack or on-line also. I spent $20 on parts and supplies. This is not hard just a bit tedious. You can do it.

replace the DG board which is the small board which plugs into the A Board ( on the left side looking in rear of the set) The DG is the board which lays flat on top of the A board. You can get the A board and the DG board combined at www.tvrepairworld.com They may sell it seperately if you inquire.

If the pins were bridged with solder it could blow the main fuse. I would check the fuse since a panasonic will always light the led if the fuse inst blown, another possibility would be the wires not seated properly especially the bridge connectors bewteen the boards.

if it is something like the PT47WX53G have you checked C509?
In
most of these sets it is a 200v rated cap that commonly fails;if it is
open the set will come on and not have a picture and or may be missing
sound.
Some of these sets when this happens---after 5 or 6
minutes you will see a faint band of noise from top to bottom towards
the right side of the screen.
If the cap had actually shorted
the set would shut down instantly with a 5 blink code---if you find
your set has it (located a few inches forward of Q551---the horizontal
output transistor. It is brown in color---look at it closely for any
cracks in the brown exterior of the cap. Sometimes if it opens fast
there will be no crack and you have to remove and test it with a cap
checker.
If you have the schematic it will tell you if your set has the part. It should be a .047 at 200 volts.
let
me know what you find and if I can help you I will. I have seen about
two dozen of these sets with this problem---if the cap has a fracture
or crack it is gone--if it looks ok it still may be open.

As you look from the back of the set (with the cover off) it is on the far right large board, C509 is the location number--it will be printed on top of the board under the cap.
It is about 2 o'clock near a large plug--on right side of right board--the one with the large gray transformer with a large red wire--part is forward of that transformer and red looking in color--two leads---it will have the C509 printed on top of the board under it.
This is a common failure part is this set--some will have a physical crack in the red part and others will look perfect-----value with a cap checker is .47 UF----200v is the working voltage --as long as you replace it with a cap of at least 200 volts of the same value--it will be fine--
There are two ways to get at it--pull the large board it is on OUT--I do not recommend this----or pull the whole light box out---very easy and safe---if you locate the cap and want to know how to pull the light box out let me know--
If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.
