You need to provide the stop error code and the technical information that you are getting on the BSOD screen. Because the troubleshooting varies for different error codes. You can try doing a bios default and after that u can go to safe mode with networking and from there u can go to the hp website to find the latest update for the bios of the pc.

USB ports work sometimes and sometimes they don't.

Sounds like a drivers issue. www.driveragent.com is a reliable scanner and source of real drivers. There is a small cost involved.

If this laptop is still under warrantee, I'd get it replaced. You could spend hours/days tracking down the cause of this. You could spend hours/days updating faulty drivers, running diagnostic tests such as Memtest, HDTune. You may even fix it - however what's to say the problem doesn't re-occur somewhere later in life.

That's why we have warrantees. I'd use it if you can.

Gateway MT6840 unexpectedly shut down and wouldn't

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Hi there! i just bought a new acer aspire m5641 (the rep told me that the computer doesnt come with an OS but when i booted it, linpus is installed) on my CPU there is a sticker that states...

Stop: 0x0000007B error code refers to memory issues
You need make some changes in your computer before installing XP
1. On start up, press F2 to enter BIOS 2. Expand the "Drives" section 3. Go to "SATA Operation" 4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"
You will be able to install XP now

When i start my laptop, I often get five or six bsod's, then it will run fine until I shut down and restart again. Is this RAM related? Could it be an AIR card I have installed?

HiNext time you boot up your laptop do the following: Just after the bios screen just before it begins to boot into windows press and hold the F8 key you should get the Windows Advanced Options Menu. dark_ryder.png
Look for the option disable automatic restart on system failure and select it using up and down arrow keys. Press enter when you have selected it. Then when you get a BSOD the laptop will not restart giving you a chance to look for the error code. Give the error code to me.

I keep getting BSOD when I want to shut my PC down, and I also get a lot of BSOD all the time. Can anyone help me please??

Backup all your files to an external disk-drive, or to writable DVD-recordable disks. Reinstall Windows, and restore your files from your backup.
