The tv will not power up, I pluged it into an outlet by itself and nothing. Could it be a fuse?

Hi marcher1,

Here are some basic steps that will help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I would advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts in the power supply, you may visit the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact , don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only. I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the power supply. If you want to repair it yourself make sure that you have necessary tools and test instrument. First check bad solder joints(re-solder all cold solder), leaky electrolytic capacitor(sometimes it has bulged at the top but not all, you better have a capacitor checker), open/shorted regulator transistor/IC(mounted in heat sink), open fusible resistor (caused by shorted regulator Transistor/IC), shorted zener diode.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!
Thanks for using fixya

05 honda accord have no power in the cigarette lighter and power outlet

Well... because there can be several things that cause this issue, you want to start with the process of elimitation. Is your car powered on when you try and use the outlet? Most veichels will not allow power to the outlets when powered off.
Observe the outlet and remove any foreign objects from the outlet, there may be a fuse or metal from a broken acessory stuck in the outlet.
Start by pluging something that works into the outlet (like a cell phone charger wit an led to indicate power) locate your veichels fuse box as per instruction of the cars manual. Remove fuse cover and locate the fuse location of the outlet in question, often labeled power or accessory. Observe the ratings of the fuse and be prepared to replace it if need be (it's good to keep common spare fuse for your veichel in your glove, trunk, ect). Remove the fuse and use a fuse tester to test the fuse or look to observe if the fuse is blown, if so replace the fuse, if the led on the charger plugged into the outlet emit's light then you have solved your problem, and if not stop work and call a mechanic or post another question. There are other things you could do but nothing that I would advise without you asking.
good luck and thanks

Not working

I literally had to have mine on it's own outlet with nothing plugged into the secondary outlet, also if it's on a line, ie; older house, again no other electricity can be pulled from the outlet or the machine knows it doesn't have full power. Also, I reset on the plug itself a good 5 times while plugged in and not plugged in, eventially, it worked for me. Good Luck.

I pluged in a small car vac in the power outlet , after ten minutes it blew. Owners manual dosen't say there is a fuse for it.

There should be a cig lighter-accessory relay in the box near the battery. It is powered by a 9amp fuse and a 20amp fuse. The 20amp fuse is in the same box with the relay.
These fuses and relay power the front and rear outlets.

I opened my fridge to get something out, shut the door and EVERYTHING WENT OUT??? No lights, no nothing??? I tripped the breaker and checked the cord etc... Nothing????

Make sure your getting power at the outlet by pluging in somthing like a hair dryer. If your getting power at your outlet then you probably have a controlboard problem.

If you don't have power then first look for GFI RESET in the kitchen. or fuse box.

I don't have any power to the t.v. even though it's pluged in to the outlet. It's a emerson model EWL20S5B?

Small TVs like this almost always are made up of two boards inside - a power board and a main TV board.

And almost always there's a fuse on the power board, near where the power cord goes in.

Checking that fuse is the only thing you can do by yourself.

Your next option is to give the TV in for repair to someone who fixes such things. Chances are high the problem is in the power supply board and is repairable.

However, the cost for doing so can be prohibitedly high as cost of the TV itself is prohibitedly low. I mean you may be better off selling it on eBay for $50 and buying a new one.

I know I'd buy it for $50 there.

I have no power light. I hit the power button and

First, I would try leaving the TV unplugged for an hour so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
If this doesn't work, it maybe something simple like a blown fuses inside the TV that needs replacing. Radio Shack or some electronic store will carry the fuses.
If the other two ideas doesn't solve it, we're talking about a power supply board related problem. I can actually look at your TV over the internet. But, the most common problem with flat panel TVs are the power supply board for the screen itself and the main power supply board for the rest of the TV. Commonly a bad capacitor or transformer will be on the board.
If you have some electronic experience and want to repair it yourself, you can sometimes find a Service Manual for your TV over the internet. Normally, costs less than $20. It will have diagrams, schematics, and part number list for the TV.

Pops power supply fuse when I plug it in

Check to fuse box to see if the fuse is working properly. Next, see if the TV "pops" the power supply when pluged into a different outlet in a different power supply area. If the TV works without poping the fuse, the fuse with the original outlet needs replacing. If both outlets "pop", either the electrical system needs checking. Or if this is a new problem that started when you first tried the TV, the TV could be wanting more power than the electrical system will allow. Check the power requiremnets in the TV manual.
