After turning the ignition off, the daytime running lights stay on and wont shut off at all. I have pulled the 40 amp fuse to the headlight system just to get them off. It also smells like something is very hot inside the car as well

this actually happened to me. i would recommend locating the 'DayTime Running Lights' fuse and pull that fuse out. this worked for my 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Hope this helps ~milbrandt23
2002 Dodge Grand caravan Front lights when the lights are on onlly the rigth one lights when i put the hi beams on the right goes out and the left turns on high. tried switching relay but not working
See if you have fuse under dash or under hood if more fuses in there that is marked DRL , or DRL module. (daytime running light module) may be at fault. Pulling that fuse may isolate problem, otherwise you may have to pull connector off back of light switch to test it.
i had the reverse problem, i had no lights. i disconnected thepositive batterypost, turned the ignition on and kept shorting it out to rebote the computer, then replaced it
