u more than likely need to format it first so your computer can read it.
see if it appears in windows explorer, if not copy a file then right click and send to the SD card and the option to format should appear, format it and this should fix your problem.
Take a can of air and blow some into the slot to make sure dust or dirt isn't getting the way of that reader trying to read the sd cards.
If you still get the same message try another SD card in that reader or try to see if another computer will read your SD card, if another computer will read the SD card and the slot still won't recognize the sd cards properly, then you know at that point the reader is bad. If the reader is bad, thats integrated into the motherboard so the motherboard would need to be replaced.
Did you ever solved your problem? I noticed the above response is just a spam ad.
I have same problem with Aspire 3680. I recently replaced the HDD and reinstalled Vista Home, all drivers from Acer has been loaded. I even updated the BIOS, updated Vista service packs and all patches.
Sent email to Acer, but of course they want $60 per 1/2 hour. And from the past experience it will take about 2 hours on the phone. Also they have no support forum, and support sucks.
So I'm still stumped. This SD problem with Acer is the only one I couldn't resolve of all brands I've worked on.
Open "my computer". The SD should be visible from that window. If you right click on the SD drive and chose "explore" from the drop down list it will open a window so you can access the files inside.
