We have moved house and have misplaced our powerlead for the CanoScan D660U

You need a film adapter plate and the software downloadable from Canon free.

If the light is not illuminating when positioning the lamp and the scan button turns grey (inoperative) the light source has probably failed in the cover. It is integral with the cover. Costs about $160 AUD to replace.

The D660U is not supported in a 64 bit OS. Only the 32 bit version of Windows Vista is supported. You can get that driver here:

Let's face it, the D660U was released in September of 2000. That's nearly 7 years ago. You can say "Shame on all vendors" all you want. However, I'll bet that the computer you have Windows Vista64 running on is not the same computer you had when you bought the D660U. It's time to upgrade. The CanoScan 8800F is a great scanner. Amazingly fast too! Zero warm-up time.
