Hello this should be the servers support homepage:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=397638First of all an operating system must be installed, to renew the firmware.
But i don`t think that`s the problem in your case.
I have to warn you about upgradeing the firmware.
You must be 100 % sure its the right software or firmware, the controller will die, or be unusefull when loading the wrong firmware !!
The battery holds the write cache in case of power loss.
Acutally the write cache feature will continue to work while the battery
is dead. However there will be no opportunity to recover data from the
cache should the server fail unexpectedly.
There should be two batteries, one on the controller itself and
one on the daughter board (memory). You may have to change both batterys.
A lithium battery should hold the power, for approx 5 years.
Contact a HP support center, to get the new batterys and replace it.
The batterys must be changed, before installing an operating system. You will probably get an error if you try.
Consider also to upgrade the bios itself.
Hope you get it running.
