Hard drive shuts down and freezes computer instantly. The drive indicator light turns off, and I can still move my mouse around, but if I click on anything, it doesn't respond. It works fine in safe mode, but it randomly freezes otherwise (sometimes after hours of use, sometimes after minutes).

Time to save everything to another save source and replace that hard drive
use a solid state hard drive as a replacement as there are no moving parts to wear out

Unable to move cursor on lenovo x61

Are you trying to move the cursor with the trackpoint, a usb mouse, or the pen? Have you tried restarting your computer? Restarting would likely solve the problem. If you can't move the cursor to the start menu, you can open the start menu with the windows key, use the arrow keys to navigate to the power options. Use enter to select the power options and shut down or restart the computer. If this does not work, press and hold the power button for 5 or 10 seconds to force the computer to shut down.

What happened before this occurred? Did you install any programs or updates recently, or change any settings on your computer?

Cannot move cursor by touchpad. Can't shut it down either, since I can't go to start menu.

Try the following: 1. Check if the on/off button on your touch pad is turned on. 2. Restart the computer by pressing ALT+F4 until you get a shut down screen and then using arrow keys to scroll to restart. 3. If still not working, try reinstalling your touch pad drivers from the disk you got with your computer (connect an external mouse to do so, if not introduced to keyboard shortcuts). Good luck and please rate if something helps.

The battery light blinks after shutting down my hp elitebook 2730p. Both the hard drive and power lights are off. What would cause the battery light to keep blinking after the pc is shut off?

The same thing has been happening to my tablet lately, as well. However, on mine, that corner of the computer is slightly damaged (from shoving it into my backpack too roughly, i guess). Is your hp damaged? Otherwise, it's probably a hardware problem.

The machine was working fine... I closed the lid (which suspends it), and when I re-opened it it would not wake up, so I shut down with power button. It will not boot now. I can hear the hard drive spin,...

it is not a bios failure but a hard drive failure
the pick up arm for the disc is not moving
replace the disc hard drive with a solid state (SSHD) that has no moving parts

Hiberation mode ,,what do i do/

Hello,

Hibernate mode is a power saving feature for computers. In hibernate mode, the current state of a computer is saved to the hard disk, and the computer shuts down. A user will have to power on the computer to restore the previous settings. When a computer resumes from hibernate mode, it reads the saved settings from the disk and restores the system state as it was before it entered hibernate mode. By default, hibernate mode is disabled. If a computer is not ACPI-enabled or APM-enabled, users will have to enter hibernate mode manually. Users cannot set the computer to automatically hibernate after a certain time. With ACPI-enabled and APM-enabled computers, users are able to set hibernate mode automatically

How to enable Hibernate:
Please follow this steps below to enable your Hibernate features:

1. Go to Main screen in your windows then right click your mouse to an empty area in your main menu.
2. After clicking the right click please select the properties then go to Screen Saver Tab.
3. Please Click the Button name Power then click the Hibernate Tab.
4. Please check the CheckBox name Enable Hibernation to enabled the hibernation if it is not hibernated.
5. To try test the Hibernate process please follow the steps in How to start using Hibernate below.

How to start Using Hibernate:
Please follow this steps below to active your Hibernate Features:

Make sure all necessary programs are closed prior to shutting down. Hibernating will put all programs to "sleep," but some programs won't start up properly. Experiment after this to figure out which programs perform as intended.
  1. Click Start and Shut Down,
  2. Point the standby button and maintain the shift key pushed,
  3. A new hibernation button appears: click it while still holding the shift key: voila your PC will hibernate.
Thanks

Mouse moves eratically and doesn't respond

In my mind it's just a couple things. The mouse or the port. Hopefully you haven't removed(or plugged in) the mouse plug when the laptop was turned on. [Only a USB can be plugged/unplugged when the computer is on.]
Try getting a new mouse. If that doesn't work you may have to have it taken in and have it looked at. Good luck.

Intel pentium problems things missing???

What operating system are you using? I would start by reformating and reinstallin Windows. If that is not an option, then install AVG free and see if you have any viruses, etc. You can take the cd drive out or simply unplug it, start computer, turn it off, re-plug in cd drive, restart computer. It should find it then. Hope this helps some.
