Unfortunately, the DVD laser diode is probably faulty. a separate laser diode is used for reading CDs so these still work. The laser unit will require replacing.

Dvd player won't read Widescreen formatted disc all of a sudden. When I put in a standard formatted disc it works fine but w/a widescreen formatted one it just tries to load it and then says no disc.
Pull it's power plug out for 10 minutes then reconnect and switch on and see how it is then.
You may need to run Auto Set-Up again.

Perhaps you need a DVD player application.

There is a free player called VLC Media Player which I highly recommend. To download it you need to visit http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Rotel dvd player not reading dvd but will read cd
if it doesnt read any kind of dvd discs at all it only means you have been rip off. It happened to my sony dvd player that I bought from this website. I tested it and it only reads cd or audio cd. Good thing my couzin fixes electronics, He checked on the lens and it turned out that the lens has been replaced with an audio/cd lens like the one we use for our car stereo. Too bad!!!

What video formats can you play with slv-d360p?
Hi al - your unit can play the following formats:

DVD VIDEO
DVD -R / - RW
DVD +R / +RW
CD -R / -RW
VIDEO CD
MUSIC CD

The player can play CD-ROMs/CD-Rs/CD-RWs recorded in the following formats:

- music CD format
- video CD format
- MP3 audio tracks and JPEG image files of format conforming
to ISO 9660 * Level 1/Level 2, or its' extended format, Joliet Kodak Picture CD format.
*(A logical format of files and folders on CD-ROMs defined by ISO)

The player can play DVD-ROMs/DVD*RWs/DVD+Rs/DVD-Rs recorded in the following formats :

- MP3 audio tracks and JPEG image files of format conforming to UDF(Universal Disk Format).
