Re: Jensen vm9314, how do you bypass the parking break...
Try connecting the PINK wire of your head unit to a ground/chassis of your car. That should solve your problem.
happy viewing but drive safely.

Or, even easier put the head unit in setup mode and choose language setup. Now get your remote and punch in the code number 543210. A hidden menu will appear and you can choose to bypass the parking brake lock in the software.Or, even easier put the head unit in setup mode and choose language setup. this is what you need to bypass the sfety feature. Note this is for off road or show purposes only. Having video playing within view of the driver is ******* in moststates and is dangerous.
Yes, you can bypass parking break feature by connecting the corresponding wire of BV8962 to ground, also you could add a 3 pin toggle switch to get a normal and bypass mode switch, this can be wired of this way, the common pin of toggle switch to your video unit, at the other pin, it could be connected the parking break wire (normal mode) and the remaining one to ground (bypass mode).
The pink wire is the safety wire so that you can not watch the screen (during a video) unless your car is in park. You can either connect it to a ground or completely bypass it by typing the code 543210 in the menu screen and turning the safety feature off.
If you have the old firmware then all you need to do is ground the parking brake wire
if you have the new firmware(just bought the system) a toggle switch is involved:
1 - connect e-brake wire from dvd unit to the switch
2 - connect a ground wire from switch to the unit chassis(any good metal grounding surface will do)
3 - pop in a dvd, toggle the switch back and forth 2 or 3 times depending on what wire you placed where...and voilaa!! your dvd system should work in motion!!
take the parking brake wire should be pink or some funky color and hook it up to a +12 power source. that way there is no need to use the e brake or anything for it to work
But as a word of caution all this is illegal in most states due to people not keeping their eyes on the road. ive read of people getting tickets for having disabled this security feature on their stereos. some insurance companys will not cover you if there's an accident you are involved in and you by-passed the safety feature. so before you do it, be sure to read your local laws and check with your insurance agent before doing it. you will not be happy finding things out the hard way.
