Keyboard and mouse not working

I got my computer off a friend and once I set it up, it only goes as far as the Green Acer screen which on the right bottom corner says:
Del: Start Set up F12: Boot Manual
But my keyboard and mouse won't work so I can't any further. Their both USB and I've tried them in all ports but nothing. Thing in when I went to pick it up, it was already set up and the Mouse was working. Not sure about the keyboard...

Does anyone know who to help?? Its got Windows 2003 installed..

Hi,

Just passing by, and i saw your concern about your pc.

sounds like you might have a posible glitch on *********** board.
the message "start set up 12" means the mother board supporting soft ware may be encountering issue.

a simple reset on what we call BIOS might solve this.

Locate the mother board manual and look for the BIOS reset jumper, in some cases just carefully remove the battery then leave it for 2 or 5 min to tottaly reset the bios. its alittle risky cause you might break the battery holder, so go with the jumper setting. and dont forget to place it back to its original position.

The cordless mouse keeps whizzing across the screen I have slowed the pointer speed and now it will not work. The usb that goes into the screen is not lighting up. I have changed the batteries and tried...

For me I prefer a keyboard and a mouse attached to the computer the only advantage of a wireless mouse and keyboard is it is convenient to use especially if you are using a huge monitor..Also attached keyboard and mouse are less in maintenance cause you have to charge it or replaced the battery once it is low in power.

I have a E156FP LCD Monitor. When I turn on my computer, it will show the initial Dell Screen and then the screen goes black. The green power light turns orange. If I push either of the (+) or (-)...

The monitor has failed, it is almost always cheaper to replace it than fix it.

Acer flatscreen won't accept signals from G-Byte cpu -

found that using an older screen and 9 pin plugs for mouse and keyboard worked - no idea why it wouldn't before.

Keyboard, mouse and usb ports don't work.

I have a Acer 5100 I am facing the same prolem my USB ports stopped working and then the Keyboard the system boots but i cannot do anything like the password nor can i start in safe mode or go to set up, if somebody can help me sort this problem ,thankyou

My Acer Aspire T310 won't go past the Acer screen and the Keyboard and Mouse don't work

Yours may be a little old computer and the cmos battery (on the mother board)is drained out. Replace this battery. You need a working keyboard.

Acer Desktop doesn't boot

I have had the same problem than djlimit.
I have contacted ACER service on line (in France, were I live) . They propose a quotation for repair against 60 Euros.
I shipped the product through (prepaid) express parcel service. I got it back 10 days later. They simply exchanged the main PCB.
