There is a W.E.P. code on the bottom of your router you have to type in your laptop in the "internet Connetions, bottom right of your screen. If this fails go into your anti-virus and disable the wireless internet connection lock.

Lose internet connection (hughes net) when hooking up router

I would contact your hughes net, that is a satelite provider. That is a total different system, than dsl or cable. Hughes net should be able to walk you through the setup.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.

Adding laptop to home system through Belkin59G .

Good Day!

I believe you are trying to connect wirelessly using your laptop to your wireless router(Belkin 59G). Try to hook it up first on your computer and check if you can go online.

If yes, then that's the time you go to the router's set up page and check the wireless security of the router so that you can connect wirelessly.

If not, then you have to reconfigure the router and the modem. If your internet service provider is cable you can just turn off the router then the modem and waitfor 5 seconds. Turn on the modem, wait for the lights to turn on then the router. After that, check if the computer will be able to go online when connected directly to the router.

Getting into the router

The easiest way to help you out is this; unplug the router from the modem and plug the router directly into your computer. When this is done go to Internet Explorer or any other Internet browser you are using and type in 192.168.1.1 as the web site address. I know you are used to the www.website.com style but with this you do not need the www in front of it. Once you type in 192.168.1.1 press enter and it should log you right into the router no problem. If that does not work then the router has been configured with another address and you would have to reset it. DO NOT reset it until you know your IP address and you know that by resetting the router you will not mess up anything from the modem and from the provider that you are using.
