I have a sony handycam bought from kolkata which was a used one.I did not get any driver disc or any form of software.Now after taking videos on dvd-r disc and finalizing it; I transfered to my pc; But when I tried to play it, could not open the videos;more over it also could not be copied from pc to the cd or dvd disc.I neither got any manual for it.

It is not required to use any driver to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Computer.
Once you connect the Camcorder to the Computer, you will get the DVD disc in the Camcorder as an additional drive under My Computer.
You can find the Video_10 folder under the drive and copy it to the Computer to transfer the videos.
However, there are some occasion, computer may ask driver when connecting the Camcorder.. It may be due to genuine driver incompatibility..
In these type of situation, you can finalize the disc in the Camcorder and insert it in the CD/DVD drive on the Computer to transfer the videos.
You can use any software which you used to playback the commercially produced discs to playback the videos from the disc.

If you use the Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV350 then you may want to download your videos you've captured to your computer. Is this what you mean with your problem right?

When you downloaded your video, you will be able to use the videos on your computer.. If you want to download the videos you need to use the USB cable and installation disc that came with your camera. This is how to do it:

1. Insert the HandyCam software disc that came with your device. Select "HandyCam" then "USB Driver" when the wizard appears. Install the camcorder's drivers. Repeat this step with each piece of software on the disc. Each program needs to be installed separately.


2. Connect your camcorder to your computer via USB. The driver configuration wizard will appear. Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize setup.

3. Click "Start," then "My Computer." Double-click the camcorder from the list of peripherals. From here, you can download all available data on the camcorder to your computer.

Oddly I have the oposite of this problem. I actually did find the drivers but now I need to find a software that will record the video off of it. I normally use MotionDV STUDIO but for some reason it won't detect this camera.

I bought a program called "inDisc Recovery" that locates lost files and then saves them to your computer.

Sony camcoder softwares has copy-right protection and difficult to available in market or online. Try to get software cd form friends.

You should have got a sofware disc with the handycam when you bought it.if you load the disc it should accept the video on usb.if you dont have the disc try sonys website for software,.
