Question about Planar PDP-42BK 42 in. Plasma HDTV

Open Question

No picture - green to red indicator ( do have power )

I'm having the same issue reported with my planar tv:
Turn the unit on and I can hear the unit click on when it turns on and goes from Stanby (red) to Green and back to red again.

Checked out the solution reported by lwin62 at:

But i'm confused by this, as the parts he listed to replace don't look at all like the parts on the board:
"Got it from a site called their phone # is 1800-344-4539. The part #s are EF6225-ND you need 1of these and E6105-ND you need 2 of these, the cost is $16 for all. Let me know how it went."

I tried to ask lwin62 for clarification, but don't think he is checking this site anymore.

any help is appreciated!

    thx for the prompt responses!

    1. no apparent bulges

    2. have not tested them ( was primarly going with the similar symptoms of the other posters and resolutions )

I have to admit that i'm not very experienced at doing work at the capacitor level, just minor stuff here and there.

So what gets me is that the board labels show the caps ( per lwin62's board picture ) as the large blue items next to the yellow coils. But the replacement parts he listed from digi-key look more like the capacitors that i'm used to seeing. There is a huge difference between the sizes of the parts.

    thx again

Ratings on the parts to be replaced? That's where i'm confused on this entire thing. If i am even looking at the same items that they replaced in the post.

My board looks exactly like the pic posted by lwin62. I'll post a pic of mine with the caps in question.

    thx again!

Tv turns off will turn on then off right away

the internal overload sensor is engaging to protect the system. The parts cost to replace the faulty board is about $70 But you need the skills to open the tv and change it I recommend you get a professional to do it More expensive of course but a lot safer.

It does sound like a power supply problem but that can be misleading because a problem somewhere else in the TV can be "holding down" the power supply. This can usually be determined by using some isolation techniques.
