I have an Acer 5738Z. While plugging in a USB data card, the system shut down and this kept happening everytime i tred to connect the data card. A message keeps popping up - "A USB device has exceeded the power limits and it needs to be remved". Ive tried everything but the USB ports dont work now. Please help.

Hey I checked the Data card. There was a small piece of aluminium foil that was stuck between the terminals and it had shorted the terminals, therbey causing the power to surge everytime i connected the device. The other devices like the mouse and the ipod were working fine, so i decided to check the data card thoroughly. Anyway, thanks to you guys for a quick reply. :DHey I checked the Data card. Based on the message, it is power related. the power needed by the card is greater which your laptop cannot supply. try to test an adapter with higher wattage and see if that helps

That is most unusual as the ports are 12Volts DC. The only way that can happen is if the Plus and Minus power from the output transformer cross and pair up. That can happen if the USB cable is defective and the two main wires in the cable touch each other. This is known as a short circuit. It is possible that the USB Port is not damaged, just the cable. If the computer is operating OK, then no damage was done to the internal parts and only the USB cable and perhaps the Port may have suffered. Incidentally, all you needed to do was unplug the power cord to the computer to power down.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

No, delete restoration data just removes data that was saved just before your computer crashed or shut down without going through the normal shut down procedure. The operating system makes little temporary files while you are working on something so that it can restore them if the system goes down. Nothing happens to your real data files, documents, music, pictures, videos or memory.

There is probly a connection error, you might need a new wireless card, or if your battery is weak, it changes the connection strength and quality. Or you have a bad connection, go in and check that.
You should get Revo uninstaller. It's free and through. Check on that McAfee and I'm not sure about Zone Alarm, but Ihear two AV programs will conflict with each other. Good luck.
Try doing a BIOS update on the sys if it doesnt work out uninstall the drivers from both the sys and try to use the unit as a plug and play device the sys should automatically detect the new hard ware found wizard and install it using that it should fix the issue
