On my i mac i can talk on skype thru my headphones but it wont let me talk without them, so was wondering what went wrong?It was working before..

On a Mac mini made in 2010 or later, you'll need to use an external microphone to communicate as they're not built in. Plugging in a pair of Apple EarPods or headphones into the headphone jack should work just fine.

USB microphones will also do the trick (but you'll need to adjust some audio settings in Skype).

Are you using skype? you need to set what microphone and headphones you have.

Have you tried hooking up headphones to see if that works?

You might also try turning it off taking out the battery for a few seconds> re-inserting the battery> Turning the mac back on

A question like this does not help us answer it. Please be more specific. Which laptop? what model, how old. What headphone?
If the Mac laptop is less than 5 years old then you don't need headphones to chat on it. Just open your chat application (iChat, Skype, whatever) and the mac is already to go. Just talk to the screen.

Do you have the Play n Charge Kit connected? It seems if you use that with the X1 at the same time, some kind of hum noise is transmitted through the USB bus power to the X1 headset, and you hear a buzz or high-pitched hum. The solution is to use the X1 without the Play n Charge Kit, and charge the controller when you're playing the sound through your TV instead of the headset.

You can try to go into your setting and do a master reset, that will reset anything you may have accidently pressed but it sound like your speaker is blown.,Hopefully your phone is less than a year old, you can contact your cellular provider for warranty exchange

I do not think you can? You might need to contact skype and ask them how to do it? Otherwise if you go to your hard drive click "apple" and "F" and then type in voice recorder. Your Mac may have one on board. If this fails, you can buy an adaptor for your ipod that records voice.

Its due to your internal laptop MIC's failure! Plz check at any Compaq Service station! Becoz its internal hardware error! Becoz there r no seperate drivers for MIC! If your speakers are working great then MIC should work or else try to get repaired it!
