I have a ge spectra self cleaning oven the door does not lock when cleaning process begins it flashes locked and starts beeping but hook does not move into the lock position. I tried to unplug oven ho

If your GE Oven will not lock during the self clean cycle count yourself lucky. If it will go through the cycle then let it self clean and just make sure no one opens the door while it is hot. Most ovens fail locked and there are several possible faults - one of the two switches may have failed, the oven temperature sensor may have failed, the motor that drives the lock may have failed (most likely your issue), the plastic gear may have stripped. There is not a manual lock or unlock over ride and to unlock the oven manually you have to take the stove apart which is difficult when it is locked.

Cant unlock oven door

Hi, unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door. If these procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door.
*Note: Some model ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked. Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures.

Door locked after cancelling self clean option

Open the door. In the upper left corner, press and hold the door switch (the one that controls the inside light). Start a self clean cycle and wait for lock motor to engage. When the lock stops moving it should be in the unlocked position. Press cancel to stop the self clean.

If you need more assistance let me know.
Good luck!

After canceling self cleaning on my GE Hotpoint oven, I was able to unlock the door and open the oven door. When I try to use the broil or bake feature it keeps saying "un lock dor" The door is not lock...

Hello,

You will need to allow oven to cool, the temperature is one thousand degrees plus while the oven is cleaning. Until the oven cools it will not open, this is a safety caution. If it will not open after it is totally cooled, it may be stuck, try pushing on the door or pulling it out a bit while trying to move the lever.

Always consult the owners manual when using the cleaning mode on your oven. Be sure it is fully cooled before cleaning any residue out of oven area.

"Locked Door" flashes after interrupting self clean (follow up)

Hi robertkbrown...you may want to try to following steps.....good luck my friend...chris If ?LOC DOOR? is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control: Motorized Switch 1. With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel. 2. Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed. 3. While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps. 4. Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds. 5. When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it. 6. Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear. 7. The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service. Manual Switch 1. Press the Clean pad. 2. Close the door. 3. Slide the latch to lock the door. 4. Hit the cancel button immediately. 5. Unlock the door.

Frigidaire Electric oven model # GLEB27S7C

If you unplug the range and remove the lower rear cover on your left side you should see the motor with 2 switch's on it. There are 3 possibilitys with it. One of the switch's on the assembly is not working or the light switch for the door is not good. You also can disconect the lead to the motor and connect a power cord to it and that will unlock the door so you can check the dor switch also. if you do not feel comfortable powering up the lock motor then you should call a repair man. But one of the switches is not letting the computer know the dor is locked.
