If I buy No 28...it will work but won't allow refilling
But if I buy 28A...it will work and allow refilling next time!
Is that what you mean??
Thanks

That particular printer can not use a refilled #28 cartridge, if you want to use refills you have to buy a #28a and #29a. They cost more to get but when you refill them they are a lot cheaper.

Because it's not a Lexmark original.
Replace with an original one and you'll be ok.

Is it true that both my new Lexmark Prevail Pro 705 print heads quit printing in color is because I didn't use Lexmark OEM ink cartridges?

Some Lexmark cartridges have an RF chip mounted underneath the label on top. Most of these are set to self destruct on first use to prevent refilling. You probably need to risk the cost of a new cartridge to find out if it is a cartridge problem or a printer problem. Unfortunately you should not take out a cartridge or replace one while the machine is powered. The system also frequently registers an serial number on the cartridge and stores it to prevent "hot swapping" cartridges

I have tried everthing in "Lexmark X5495 Help"

Sounds like you just need a new printer. Some times the encoder wheel can get dirty with aerosolized ink and it will start to skip lines. The encoder wheel is a small plastic wheel on the paper feed of your printer. Around the edge of the wheel are hundreds of small thin black lines. As paper goes through the printer it counts these lines as the wheel turns to know how far to push the paper. If ink or debris gets between the lines over time it can start counting two lines as one and thus advance the paper too far, causing blank space between prints. See the below picture of a printer encoder wheel for reference. My professional opinion is to not purchase Lexmark. New Canon printers are very reliable with a high quality output, look for one that uses CLI-221 cartridges. Or most any HP.

After 15 color copies voice comes on Color ink LOW, Senior Citizen

The ink cartridges shipped with a new printer are not filled to full capacity as are the ones that you purchase for replacement. Office supply stores "Staples" "Office Depot" etc can refill your cartridges for about half of the cost of a replacement cartridge, I do not reccomend refilling the same cartridge more than twice but even after the second fill you can then trade the cartridge in for a discount on a new one.
Hopefully this helps.
You can also open the printer settings and lower the print resolution for jobs that do not need full color/resolution.

Lexmark stops printer when refill is detected.

Save your original OEM ink cartridge, when the software prevents you from printing, install it, remove it, then install the generic ink cartridge. You'll be good for a couple weeks, then just rinse and repeat.

Lexmark x5495

Lexmark does not allow refilled cartridge on any of their products.

Lexmark, HP and Canon and-many other vendors use proprietary code to protect themselves against the damage of OEM inks.

All companies will void warranties.

I just refilled black ink of my new printer Lexmark x5495. Does not recognise the black cartilage and keeps on asking for alignment. When it prints alignment page it does not use the refilled black ink....

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

HOW TO REFILL LEXMARK X5495 PRINTER

When you try refilling your ink cartridges, you are taking chances that something may go wrong. I would search the web and purchase re-manufactured ink cartridges, which would be less expensive than the new ones from Lexmark.

Lexmark x5495

Lexmark advertises the cartridges supplied with this printer as cart. #28 and #29. They claim these are nonrefillable. The refillable cartridges are #28a,29a, 34 and 35, the last two being the high yield carts. Make sure you have one of these.
