OSD Lock out on HP Monitor

I've seen this solution suggested: Unplug the monitor from power. Hold the power button in for about 30 seconds to completely discharge the capacitors. Now power it back on.
If that doesn't work, go into the monitor's menu and do a factory reset. Hope it works now.

I had the same issue as yours. After contacting the Acer support team, I got the response as follows. I tired and it worked.

"In order to resolve this issue, you may please perform a power reset. This will remove any static electricity stored in the hardware components that may cause the issue.

- Turn the monitor off and unplug the power cord and VGA cable from the monitor.

- Hold the power button on the unit down for 30 seconds.

- Release the power button and plug only the power cord back into the unit. "

Hope it helped.

My gateway computer power light blinks and moniter says no signal.turn it off held then power button on for 30 seconds.then turned it back on.same as before.

Hello,
I don't think this has anything to do with the monitor since it is showing "no signal". this is an indication that the monitor is working.
Problem is from the connection between the computer and the monitor or from the computer itself.
Check the VGA cable and make sure it is firmly fixed into the computer and monitor.
Open the computer case, disconnect the keyboard, mouse, and every other thing apart from the VGA cord, then try again.
If there is still no signal, turn computer off again, remove it's power cord, then remove the system Ram, clean it and fix it back in. Then make sure the VGA card is well fixed into the mother board. After that, connect only he VGA cord and try again.
If non of the above seems to work, connect the computer to another monitor, and connect the monitor to another computer in other to confirm which is having a fault so that we can focus on it.
Keep me posted.
Good luck.

page 27, Its not the power button for lock its MENU button.
all there is ,is the manual to read. did you?
seem yes, with , statement about lockout.
most monitors must be connected to a running PC to work
or only work for seconds, then shows nosig, no syn, out of range
and turns off, even the oSD goes off, so is there PC a there
with live video and sync signals? must be.
what cable , VGA?
2009m/v/f (choices new, see those letters?)
the manual shows it can be connected 4 ways,
dvi, vga, hdmi or with and adaptor, did you do one of these ways.
page 16 see that?

my guess is you did not read the manual, RTM
it costs nothing to see it at HP.
get the PC running first, with attached, 4 ways, of cables.
based on what model you really have, (suffix letters in model)

Monitor must not be locked, and PC running and conected
for SYNC up happens and menu OSD to work freely.

Hp w17e not powering up

Try unplugging the power cable then pressing the ON button few times (yea, while the power cord is unplugged although it may sound silly), afterwards plug the power cable back in and try turning the screen on, if still don't works then its probably one or few capacitors have leaked and need to bee replaced.
  • If you still have warranty on it then its the time to use it,
  • If not you can try fixing it at an electric shop or try opening it by yourself, find out what capacitors are damaged and replace them.

I just aquired an HP s3100n Pavilion computer that I am trying to refurbish but when it is all hooked up everything spins up and powers up but I get no VGA signal to my monitor. I believe the mobo is toast...

Hi. Please check and make sure that vga cables are intact from LCD going to the computer. Try to perfrom power drain on the computer. here's the procedure:

Unplugged the power cord from the wall socket
Press and hold the power button for 30 secs
Plugged in the power cord
Turn on the computer

If same issue will happen after this troubleshooting, you might need to call your computer manufacturer for you have a defective VGA card installed iny our computer.

All the best!
