Mouse pad won't work

whenever any device stops working first try re-installing it as follows:
go to start -> control panel -> devices -> press on + sign to open each device.
scroll down till u reach ps/2 mouse, right click mouse and release on uninstall., switch computer off (hard reset) and back on windows will then re-install driver during boot - up.
if that doesnt work go to laptops website and download its touchpad driver (most called synaptics) and install.

If your computer have a, Synaptics Touchpad you can try these steps:

1. Access the properties of the Synaptics Pointing Device by right-clicking on the system tray icon at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. If you do not see the icon, open your Control Panel and select the "Performance and Maintenance" option. Click "System", then "Hardware", then "Device Manager" to view the devices on your computer. Open the "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" selection.

2. Click on the "Device Settings" tab of the "Mouse Properties" window. The "Device Settings" tab is at the top of the window and located farthest to the right

3. Highlight the Synaptics Touchpad from the list of available pointing devices. Click the "Disable" button underneath the list. Click "OK" on the pop-up menu to confirm your selection. Click "OK" on the Mouse Properties window to close the window. Your Synaptics Touchpad will now be disabled.

Make sure to connect a USB mouse to your laptop before disabling the touchpad so that you will still have control of your pointer.

Hope this help. Goodluck!

Good Morning: I have an Acer Aspire 5920

Hello,

As by your description, the FN F7 key combo did not solve the problem. Please restart the machine , press F8 then select from the list "Safe mode" then press enter. Please download and install the latest BIOS for your machine. The E525 has a issue where the TP just stops working, upgrading the BIOS solves the issue on the E525...

If rest of your window is working fine and the problem is with the cursor only then you have to uninstall the touch pad driver then reinstall it.

If you don't have the driver you can download the driver from Acer's website.
