You may have a driver mismatch ,your HD may require
USB 3.0 driver or Sata compatible MOBO
It might be a good idea to go with the 1 that works if you cant get a refund or exchange
you might try it in another computer as slave drive.
Hi , I bought a HDD from samsung model hm500ji , it has less than 3 months and isn´t working anymore.
I use it in a case and it isn´t recognized by the notebook (USB) RUNNING W7.
Usually when I have troubles I take the HDD and put it in the notebook and run Hirens, then I can see the files and folders , not this time.
I run the utilities from Samsung but none of them are helping me to see the DATA in the disc , is very weird because this HDD hasn't been handled badly.

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X
you will need to update/reinstall drivers
right click to reinstall drivers
if you can see your usb drive but its not working
ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts
hope it helps
Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan
is not working your PSU is faulty
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or
to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including
electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to
your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not
faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that
are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections
and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could
be faulty a computer
needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads
will end up with a computer error hope this helps

In that case, what should I do?
my computer OS is Windows 7 Professional. Processor Intel Core i5.. When I bought another 2.5" 500Gb HDD, it can be read. But the Samsung 2.5" 500Gb still can't be read.
Thanks.
