See if you can reinstall the printer. Try deleting the printer in the control panel and then reinstalling it. Also try plugging it into another USB port.

yeah you should only be looking for two wires one is power pretty obviously goes to the wall nand the other is either a usb or pci cable which plugs into the corresponding port on the computer this is a link to the users manual there may be a picture in there to help you out

Have you checked your printer port settings in the windows printer configuration page? It appears that this may the first place to start. Most USB printers are configured to a numerical usb port. Make sure your usb printer(s) are not configured to LPT or serial ports...

Is it a USB printer? Does your USB port on your Laptop work when you connect any Flash memory to it? If so make sure you have installed the current drivers for the printer prior to plugging it into the Laptop.

If everything is OK, but the message is still appear, then u can clear it by following below steps:
User Function--> User--> General--> Toner Near Empty Detection -->Yes

Delete the printer icon and disconnect the USB cable. Restart the laptop, reconnect the USB cable to see if your laptop recognizes the printer. If so, install the printer driver. If not, probably USB cable or port issue. Hope this helps.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came withthe printer. When the software program asks you to connect theprinter to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Lately dell printers use a power pack that slides into the left rear of the printer and is universal to many different Lexmark & Dell printers. This since about '02. These packs make 30 volts DC. Google part # 15J0307 and see if this is what you are missing.
