It is quite common. If your machine is less than 2 years, contact Philips and they will give you a new one. Else, It takes a bit of patience to disassemble the machine. (The version that I have HD-7810) you have to: ) 1. remove the water tank;remove the back part that is touching the water 2. remove the back cover beneath the water tank; 3 spot 2 screws at the sides of the vertical plastic, one on each side(better to use a light or led to really see it); 4. Remove the screws with a Philips driver; 5. Use a small sharp tool to pop open the under cover of the machine - star by one of the sides, go through the part where the buttons are and continue untill all of it is off; 6. You will see a yellow rectagular capacitor. Desolder and solder a new one. 7. Close the machine as nothing happened and enjoy the coffee!
