Question about Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Notebook

1 Answer

While on the internet my mini 10 locked up, this happened twice. I switched it off and tried to switch it back on. The Dell logo pops up on the screen but then it remains black. I ran a diagnostic and the following error was reported 4400:011A SSC1_0_00_DISC_GENERIC_MULTI-CARD-TARGET NOT READY Can you help? Regards and thanks Bill

    Hi Valentudor,

My mini does not have a card reader in fact you need to use the ports to connect DVD player, mouse etc.

The big question is how can I get it past the black screen and up and running.

The error means that when the diagnostics were trying to test the card reader, there were no media cards(.ie SD Card from camera) in the card reader.

Try turning on the computer with the blue Fn button pressed down with the on button and then release both at the same time. Then select boot up normally.

If this doesn't work, then you need to contact Dell and arrange for them to fix your laptop (if it's still in warranty).

If it were for the HD, then you would get some beeps at startup. I suppose you don't get any beeps, so I assume it's a malfunctioning motherboard. I think you need a new laptop since repairing it will be close to the price of repairing your old one.

Dell optiplex mini tower wont turn on

Make sure the power is being supplied from a working source, then check if the switch on the bottom-back of the computer is switched on. If the power button still doesn't work, try holding the button down for 10 seconds. Next, try switching the switch off, unplugging the computer for at least 30 seconds, plugging it back in, switching the switch back on, and pressing the button.

My battery is not enterely back in. What shoul I do?

First: This should be obvious, but if your computer is on, turn it off completely (if you were running on AC power).

Now, look for two switches on the bottom next to the battery. Move them away from the battery towards the unlocked padlock symbol. Take your battery out completely and then slide it back on. Once it's in securely, switch the locks back to the locked position.

ON mini 10 the bottom of the display doesn't show, where the start button is.

you might have change the location of the start menu or called task bar, try to press the windows logo key on the keyboard to show up the task bar. if it shows up you can drag it to the bottom of screen. if it is locked and cannot be dragged, right click on it and remove the check mark on lock the task bar.
