Purchased laptop with Vista Home Basic. Lexmark X5150 installation disk would not load. Went to Lexmark website and pulled new drivers for X5100 series and installed on laptop without a hitch, test page printed fine.
However...when I send more than one print job to the printer now, it prints the first one, and that is it. All other print jobs stack up behind the first one. When I open up the que for the X5150, it shows the computer trying to delete the first print job, but the print job never deletes, and I am unable to manually cancel it. Since it never deletes, the print jobs behind it never print. I have to cancel all print jobs (the one showing being deleted still shows after I have cancelled all), I have to shut the computer off, then turn it back on, and that normally will delete the print job being deleted.
Try it again with just one print job, and it prints, then trys to delete the print job in the que, and it hangs there. So if I was to send another print job to the printer, it will not print.
I am posting this in hopes of helping others that are having issues with the Vista print spooler. In my case, I have an HP Pavilion laptop running Vista connected to a wireless hub. I also have a Minolta Konica 2300DL printer that is connected to the network via the wireless hub as well. Ever since obtaining this laptop, I have not been able to print to the printer other than stopping and starting the print spooler to obtain a single print 'job'. After about six months I found a post that contains the fix - I cannot take credit for it! Follow these instructions to get your printer to work:
1.) Go into control panel - I would suggest classic view as it is a little easier to navigate.
2.) Then go into User Accounts.
3.) From User Accounts go into Turn User Account Control On or Off
4.) UNCHECK Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
5.) At this point you will probably require a reboot.
Once this exercise is complete, you should be able to print. One more item off of my Honey DOO list!!!!!
I got my x5150 to scan in vista x64 ultimate - make a custom color profile with file type .bmp. I still can't print more than one print job at a time. The queue is hung up. I have had UAC turned off the whole time -- ie. since before I installed the driver for this printer. Normally you can restart the print spooler service to counter this type of issue ie a hung job so it is probably their usb printer connection shim that is causing the problem but that is just a guess. Stopping and starting print spooler in this condition does not remedy the problem.
I have this problem with Vista drivers and have found that after each print I turn off the printer and turn it back on it will delete the last print and print the next in the list. agravating but it will print. No scan Though.
.
This driver is only to print so the nice printer scanner that worked so well with XP and win98 is a sorry page printer. Lexmark is unresponsive and useless for helpI. I will never recomend Lexmark again

Exact same problem. Have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers.
Same here. I have to wait for each print to complete before sending the next to the printer. Sometimes turning the printer on and off can start the next print job.
Add me to your list. I have the same problem with my Lexmark 5150. Sometimes it prints several jobs and other times it locks up so I can only print one. Also if you know if there is faxing software for the Lexmark 5150 I would love to know. Ever since I downloaded the Vista drivers the scanner does not work
Thanks
John
Same here
The print spooler hangs after printing 1 document. I is trying to delete the document just printed from the queue, but it never deletes; therefore additional documents will not print
I have the same problem. When i swicthed the printer off and on again the deleted file is gone and the next printjob started
Same exact issue, any resolution yet? Tried to chat with Lexmark, kept getting disconnected, very tiring.
I installed my X5150 on vista & could not print test page. I could not cancel print either. I downloaded the drivers from lexmarks website. When I attempted to install the driver, I'm prompted to uninstall the previous drivers. However, after it starts to uninstall, I get the '(not responding)' message. Have tried several times and no luck. Can't unistall, print, or anything!
exactly the same problem. I'm unable to print with Windows vista and lexmark x5150
I can print but can not do any thing else
We have the exact same problem with Lexmark 5150 and Vista. We'd love to hear when someone gets an update that fixes the issue. Thanks
Kristi
Ditto - I have a Lexmark x5150 and laptop with Vista....I cannot print!
I have exactly the same problem with my X5150 on Vista- can only print once and then I have to switch off the printer to clear the completed job.
I have the same issue but with Windows XP. If I try to delete a print job before it has started, it never moves past the "deleting" message. I've tried turning the printer off, disconnecting the printer, logging off to no avail. I have to reboot the PC.
i have this too... anyone found a fix ?
My X5150 (Vista X64) - will print and not remove the document from the queue -- just showing "deleting". Can't print anything again until I re-boot.
I had exactly the same problem. After turning off UAC, the print jobs are removed after printing. Thanks douglionberg!
Two symptoms:
1. If the print suceeds, the printer window stays open as though the print is not complete, if I click cancel, the print clears from the queue.
2. Sometimes, the printer window closes, and then the printer is hung until I power the printer off and reboot Vista x64.
