Hi from retired Englishman in SW France

It is necessary to start with ensuring the machine is stable- it sounds as if yours might not be. Out of balance is a common problem with both front and top loaders!
So- I don't know your particular machine but the initial cure is the same.
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine, even when empty, has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)

Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine (sorry about my UK spelling!) and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal drum suspension is malfunctioning but I've not had any feedback of this nature.

Good luck,

John C

could be the bearing. does it sound like a freight train when the machine is in spin cycle. if your machine is still under warranty or contract, call it in for service. if its not, then you might want to think about purchasing a new machine.

Final spin loud noise out of balance??

sounds like your bearing is shot
is this a fridgedair?
does it sound like a 747 or freight train?
if yes might as well throw it away
I would say your looking at about 5-6 hundred dollars to repair
you will need the basket and outer tub
the reason is your bearing is compressed from the factory in your outer tub and your basket shaft goes through the bearing
and usually gets eaten up by the bearing

Washing machine

I have a piece of **** duet washing machine. It suddenly stopped spinning. I knew this because the tell tale sound of a freight train in my laundry room wasn't there. I did take off the back and notice the belt was off of the pulley in the back. I got dirty, but I fixed the belt. It does spin now. Try the belt!

If I could only figure out why it it SO loud!

I found this on line ... 6/15/09 . Does your Maytag Neptune front loader sound like a runaway freight train when it is in high speed spin cycle? 2. Is your Neptune getting so loud that you cannot be in the same room while it is spinning your clothes? It sounds like your bearings may need some attention if you answered YES to the questions See www.neptunebearing.com ... Frank [email protected]

GE Washer WPSR3100W0WW roars like a freight train in spin cycle

You would need a transmission (WH38x10002) which comes with a new tub seal, and runs between $150 and $200. Check the back of the owners manual to see if your washer has a five year warranty on the transmission. (newest ones may be only 1 year) They do make a couple special tools which make the repair easier, and an experienced tech can do one in about a half hour, but your first one will take much longer. Motor is most likely just fine.
