To scan documents to your computer, you will need the Lexmark OCR scan software which can be installed using only the installation software CD that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance. You may refer to the Lexmark X6100 Series User's Guide for more detailed instructions on how to scan to your computer using your model.
Print quality issues could be due to clogged or dirty print cartridge nozzles. Try the steps below to improve print quality on your Lexmark X6150 printer:
Load paper in the All-In-One.
On the printer operator panel, press Copy.
Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display.
Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display.
Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles.
Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.
You may also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if it's not a cartridge issue.
Your printer should have Productivity Studio or a Lexmark All-in-one application with it. Install it and then open the application then you should find scan and copy operations available. Now place your paper on the flatbed then on the application click scan or preview.
For scanning - use window drivers, try under window Photo Gallery. Works fine. For printing, the problem is when it tries to "delete" a file it prints it fails. Can not figure this one out.
I fixed my friends printer, Lexmark x6150 which had the same error and symptoms. The registration strip might be out of its so called slot but I doubt it.
Get several cotton balls and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Turn off the printer. Soak a cotton ball, not dripping or saturated with the alcohol. Clean the paper path ( area underneath where the print cartridge carrier travels back and forth over the paper. ) This area becomes coated with ink and gets sticky, Clean the area until all ink is removed, you will use many cotton balls, continue until clean. Check the carrier parked area. You will note 2 rubber boots, 1 for each ink cartridge, make certain they are clean as well. They seal the cartridges so they don't dry out.
Sounds like your laptop isn't talking to your scanner. These scanners only work if it has access to a computer to store the scanned image. Check if your USB drivers are installed. Most times you can go to "Device Drivers" in Control Panel (Under the "System" icon) and right click USB to update drivers on the net. Depends how old your laptop is too. If that isn't the problem, try installing the drivers again, or search the net for newer versions.(Usually at the Lexmark site). But at the end of the day, you won't be able to scan till your laptop can recognize your Lexmark printer!!!!
