Question about Samsung A177 Cell Phone

My phone can text out, receive texts and place outgoing calls, but does not recognize incoming calls and does not accept calls from any phone. Any ideas what the problem could be before I replace it through warranty?

    AT and T wants me to call in so they can do diagnostic testing on the phone prior to sending me somewhere for warranty. Is this something that can be fixed over the phone without going somewhere for warranty service? Is this something that can be fixed on the spot if brought in for warranty coverage to a retail location?? Basically, is this a BIG problem or a LITTLE problem??

    I have the same phone as the one that is not accepting calls, it's my sons that I am trying to fix. I don't have the diverts option(it comes up, but does not allow me to select as an option, I don't think it is available on this sim card). I did turn off all call forwarding. Still did not accept a call. So, I swapped out the sim card from his phone(the one not working properly) with my phone. I got a sim card crash with his in my phone, but my sim card in his phone was ok. any ideas? Is it his cim card or phone? Oh, and when I put the sim cards back in the original phones, everything was fine and back to the way it was, with my phone working fine and his phone working for outgoing calls, and incoming and outgoing texts, but same problem with incoming calls not being recognized.

Hi, try this, go into settings then go into phone settings and look for call barring and have a look at the settings under their or call forward, or call diverts because you may have the settings on the phone wrong, if the call diverts are set to divert all calls then your phone wont ring it will just keep sending them to answer phone, how ever it will still let u recieve txt messages, so have a good look through the phones settings and try call diverts and change them all to off, this should then allow incoming calls.

you should set the call diverts up so it goes to answer phone when phone is of or out of reach and leave the other diverts on off then try calling your phone again.

with the diverts off and call forwarding off if you have it you should then be able to receive calls as normal, so give that a try and let me know how you get on

failing that the only other problem you could have is with the firmware on the phone, how ever this isnt something you can alter yourself so your best bet would be then to send it back.

try the diverts first as it may just be its not set up properly and also make sure you sim card is registered or if you can try the sim in another phone just to rule out the sim card been at fault.

    if you have turned off the call forwarding and any diverts you still have the problem then the problem is with the firmware, you could take it to a phone shop and get them to flash the firmware they wont be able to do it same day but should be able to get it back to you the next day, how ever if you take this option and anything goes wrong with your phone then your warranty will be void as it will be registered with new firmware.

    if you have turned off the forward and any call diverts if you have them ( call forwarding and diverts may not be on your phone it varies from make and network you will have either one or the other) then the problem is with the software on the phone and this is called the firmware, if your sim works in another phone then you know the sim is registered and it fully working the only reason it goes to answer phone and dont accept calls is if you have diverts or call forwarding set to divert or forward all calls so if you have changed these and turned them all off and it still dont take calls then the problem is with the firmware, you could risk getting it done at a phone shop that fixes all phones but this will void your warranty should anything go wrong in the future, as its under warranty i would contact them and tell them how annoyed you are and your not happy with been without a phone and they may offer you a free upgrade or some money off the phone.

    i would go the warranty route if you have got warranty,

This is a software problem and when you will take this for a warranty repair you will get this same handset back after they have re-installed the os on your mobile.

Texts can go using wifi, calls incoming and outgoing use cellullar air time. Normally, your problems are caused by system outages or payment defaults. Has your credit card expired. Contact your carrier.

I cannot use my mobile phone for almost 3 days.There is a signal the only problem is i cannot use the outgoing call and text but i can received incoming call and text messages


You should contact your cell phone provider. You will probably have to send in your phone, and have them send you a knew one. This issue happens a lot and it is generally a problem with the phone itself.

there are several factors why you are unable to send and receive messages and make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls.
network issue: are you the only one experiencing the problem? try to check with someone who is on the same location and is using the same network as you if he or she is experiencing the same problem as you. if yes, then it may be a problem with your network.
make sure that you have good signal and contact your service provider too and ask them if they have an ongoing maintenance in the area and ask if the sms and calls services are activated on your account
phone issue: if you have a good signal and still can't send, receive text messages, do and receive incoming, outgoing calls, try to do these: call the service provider and ask for the default network pin, then go to the settings of your phone, call settings, call barring, deactivate all barring
try inserting your sim card to another phone and try to send an sms
turn off your phone, remove battery and sim card and then wait for a few seconds, then put back the sim and battery and turn on the phone then try to send an sms

Able to recieve text messages but unable to send text messages


You need your message centre number for outgoing text messages. You can find the number by going on your networks website or by phoning you networks customer services.

I cant send any text but i can receive them.incoming and outgoing calls work fine. is there a reset button? (samsung rouge)


i cannot send text messages on my Nokia n97c. also the rear speaker is very quiet and is hard to hear when making a call. i am only useing 1 sim in the phone, and the network is at&t.

Cant call


These devices are made to work in both modes you may have to reset, remove the battery while the cell is on and count to 30, then replace battery and power back on this should work! If it does'nt call your provider and check Sim card.
