I was playing modern warfare black ops and the system decided to randomly shut off. When it did this it beeped 3 times and shut off and the red light just stays blinking. It will not eject the cd or turn back on. When you turn it on the light goes green for a second then beeps and shuts back off, what happened?

I would take the game to a friends house and see if they work their. If they do, then your PS3 must be having some issues reading the Call of Duty formats. If they do not work, then you know it's the disc and it needs to be replaced.
Yep, this is the red light error and it is caused by overheating on the main chips - you can stop this by using a good repair guide or by sending it in for a fix.
Hi, Hopefully this will help solve your problem: 1.Press and hold down the power button located at the front of the PS3 console, until you hear a first beep, then eventually a second – before the console shuts down, then let go of the button; 2.Now press and hold the button again until you hear a first beep, then a second beep then eventually a quick double-beep, then let go of the button; 3.The TV screen should now display a six option menu, where you can select what’s required, i.e. `Restart System`, `Restore System` etc. `Reset System` should only be used after other attempts with the other options, as your game saved data may be lost. If you play Modern Warfare 2 online, then this won’t be affected as your data is saved on the Sony Server. 4.During any of the above actions, your best having your handset controller connected to the PS3 via the USB cord, which includes pressing the `P` button when required (located between `Start` and `Select`). These actions should help solve `freeze` problems and others such as update errors etc – which restrict you starting up or playing your console. Don’t hesitate to contact Sony UK if required, who are very helpful. Their UK number is: 0844 7360595 Good Luck!
your ps3 could be in the process of breaking i got the ylod just last night your warranty has expired you could just run your ps3 untill it breaks then open it up and try to repair it but thats a tricky thing to do. and dont leave games in it incase it breaks they will be trapped inside, my modern warfare 2 is stuck in mine -.-
