OP Karen, you do not need to do anything to any routers, if your formated 1000 PC
wired it just works as it did, (Ethernet cable)
    wires still work now
    TV to Belkin wifi works.
CELL phone to BELKIN wifi still works.
any PC to BELKIN (1 of many fail)wifi
    all still work but 1.
so my guess is you NEVER wrote down your wifi credentials and the reformatted PC can not connect.
well log in to said router and read the WIFI page !
SSID NAME (use a name only YOU KNOW)(setting it day1)
    WPA2 selected.
and pass phrase, if can not see it change it to a new one and this time write it down.

this router is trash it is NOT SECURE at all. a very dangerous device.

You can re-install your Belkin router even don't have cd software. There is a manual or web-based method to setup Belkin router without cd disc. You just need to follow the steps given below:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your Internet Modem
  2. Power off the router by unplugging the Belkin router from the power outlet (electric wall socket) as well. (IMPORTANT: Leave both the devices off for at least 60 seconds)
  3. Then power on the Internet modem first by plugging the power cord back in and waiting for 60 seconds until all the lights steady.
  4. Once you see all the lights lit on the modem power on your Belkin router by plugging the power adapter into an electric outlet.

Take an Ethernet cable.
Connect it from the network-port on your computer to one of the 'LAN' ports on the router.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like: Default Gateway ... 192.168.123.456
Start Internet Explorer
Enter http://192.168.123.456 (or whatever values you saw, above)
Login to your router
Run the "Setup Wizard"
Run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard"

I'm trying to install the Belkin router and I get an error

If the cable is too long from the MAIN phone socket you won't get the signal to your router. You set the router as close as poss to the MAIN phone socket i.e. 2 to 5meters away. Then use a wireless adapter connected in your desktop USB socket.Use the adapter disc to set it up.This receives the signal from your router and installs it into the USB port.
