Look on-line and type in your dryer and part needed.Locally you can go to Sears or an Appliance repair center.

Dryer light stays on when door is shut nd wont run

check the door switch,i don't work on lg but on any other dryer if the wsitch is broke the dryer won't start and if the light is on the switch shuts off the light and dryer will start.if you send the model number i can look up the switch for the door and look around the frame where the door closes into, there should be a push button switch or a little paddle that the door hits, when you push in on the switch it should make a clicking sound or i've seen the paddle broke off.hope this helps or if you removed any wires to the door switch you might of wired it wrong

Dryer won't start

First, let's look at the switch on the door that is supposed to not allow the dryer to start if the door is open.
If this switch fails, could cause the problem. (Somewhat common)
Second, the switch that is supposed to start the machine could have failed. (Not too likely)
Then check the circuit breaker in your "fuse box" in the hall or garage or basement or wherever.
Circuit breakers can trip and not look like it. You might switch them (there are 2 together) on and off a few times to see if that is the problem.
Be blessed.

After 500 kenmore dryer is done drying the dryer won't shut off

The push-start switch in the dryer is probably bad. The contacts inside the switch get warped over time, causing the dryer to think you pressed Start again after it finishes a cycle. Replacing that switch should solve your problem. You can find the switch online at if you know take the rear panel off the dryer and see what the switch looks like.

Dryer will not start

ther are alot of things that wont let these dryers start. the start switch the timer. the door switch. but maybe you havent tried the motor switch. this is built with a GE design. if the belt isnt hooked up the idler pulley will not activate the switch. if you get inside the dryer. the motor sits to the left. the idler pully sits right next to it. if you look at the base of the dryer where the idler makes a 90degree turn there is a little swich that will prevent the dryer from starting if not made. just pull the idler tight see if switch clicks. other than that all the other parts you can check for continuity to see if good.

Faulty Start Button?

If the dryer doesn't even start to turn when you press the start button, then you have to look at a couple things; The start button itself, the starting relay or the safety circuit. You mentioned that there's a ticking sound... if this sound goes away when you open the dryer door but comes back again when the door is closed, then the safety circuit is working.

It could be the switch itself or the starting relay (if equipped with one). If you're mechanically capable, consider looking at the relay. See if the contacts are being pulled in when the start switch is pressed (DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE). If it is, the start switch is OK.

Hope this helps.

Kenmore Electric Dryer Will not Run

there is a centrifugal switch on the dryer motor. pressing start energizes the start winding and the motor runs. when the motor is up to proper rpm the start switch is supposed to kick out and the motor runs on its run winding.
