SOURCE: Amana Top Load Washer model# LW3502W
Sounds like the water seal is damaged and the leaking water has damaged the top bearing which is just below the water seal. You will need to have the hub & seal kit replaced.
SOURCE: Loud noise during spin cycle and agitator won't rotate
the machine is nknown to have bad main seals, in turn leading to the corrosion of the spin bearing, in which case makes it sound as if a helicopter is landing in your laundry room
SOURCE: Replaced broken washer belt, but drum still won't spin.
you may have a bad bearing in a pulley, could be motor coupling. Take belt off and spin motor shaft and pulley both ways if it's free, then its more than likely not the motor. Now spin the drum with belt off and see if it does the same as with the belt on if it does it has to be a bad bearing or coupling to the drum. hope this helps
Testimonial: "Thanks for your input. I'll look into it. If the problem is a bearing, is it an easy fix or should I start saving for a new washer?"
SOURCE: Washer fills, cycles, drains, but
Noting that you verified the belt is in place and that the motor turns freely.. If the unit fills and drains but does not spin or agitate there are only 3 things that can cause the problem
1. The lid switch
2. The timer
3. Wiring
The most common failure the lid switch itself

You should hear and audible click as you just open or close the lid, No click = no wash or spin but will fill and drain. You can try actuating the switch yourself to see if it will spin. If you need more help repost here and will go from there.
