917-Front Audio Not Connected - HP Compaq dc7100 PC Desktop

BIOS warns of this if the cable is unplugged from the mobo, all HP do that. like that.
the cure is put it back.

    now for your learning joy?

the front panel is logically wired to the rear panel audio! HP loves to do that, on all DT.(by DESIGN)
ever seen the rear go dead using the front panel phones. that is by design and logic and firmware.
that is why when the cable falls off , all this magic fails. and bios told you it did, amazing facts to know.

    dah manual RTM
page 36 , jack 12, is lose or not connected, or lost or missing or dog chewed the cable.(lol)
    https://www.manualslib.com/manual/275268...

hp.com too has the manual above is echo 16 years old a 2005 PC.

if lucky in bios pages , disable local SOUND, and install any PCI-express sound card, and the alarm may end.
but luck can fail. for sure,... HP is not any kind of best DIY PC plateform
get ASUS Z270p up, and win. DIY and not use old HP.

I got the same annoying message about the front audio after installing a sound card and plugging the front audio into it instead of the motherboard. Shorting the pins as shown in that last post didn't make the error message go away for me. I did manage to make it go away with a 1K resistor as shown here (excuse the crude MS Paint drawing.) I believe these can be purchased at Radio Shack. I used a female connector from an old computer with the wires pulled out to achieve this connection. Hope this helps.

Exactly this solution helped me with HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT PC motherboard.Thank you! I used 200 Ohm resistor and actually i think it can be simply short cut, but i am not sure.

why not go to BIOS and disable onboard audio, bing done.
all PC by this maker Ive seen have a disable in BIOS,
in fact the cards are an option new at HP,
all HP and Dells both get upset if you remove front panel assemblies, sound for sure , main for sure and USB too sometimes. even freezes with F1 errors.

learn to set BIOS correctly first.
    sound chip DISABLED.

You have a problem with HP connectivity. When I moved my dx7100 motherbard into another casing I experienced that error and also chassis fan not detected error. Chassis fan error is easy to remove, You only need a fan with at least 3 cables (with sensor) and plug it into 4 pin chassis fan connector. Audio conector have 10 pins (eight pin missing for orientation (with followed numerication
2 4 6 10
1 3 5 7 9
If you only want to get rid of the error ( with no use of back audio(use of another soundcard)) then short pins 2 and 7. But if you want to use back connectors, then you must bridge with jumpers 1-3 for microfone, 5-6 for audio L and 9-10 for audio R.
I've bee searched thru internet and didn't find this trick anywere.

SOURCE: wont boot up with out hitting F1

check inside the case to see that nothing bad has happened to the cables connecting these items, also check the usb ports for any damage,go into device manager and search for new hardware,it may find them and install what it needs ,if all else fails, you might need to go get a bios upgrade , this may fix the problem.
after that and still have the problem, its most likely the motherboard

good luck

Drive belt diagram model 917-276051

the closest thing to a "drive" belt diagram would be in the owners manual http://www.manualslib.com/manual/487688/Craftsman-917-276051.html?page=38#manual
the horizontal (front) end would be to the pulley at the engine that the deck belt(s) are not attached to. There is a set of mid pulleys where the direction is changed from horizontal to vertical for attachment to the transaxle.

Xw 4600 917-front audio not conntect

old post , error 917, sure, all do that when....
P23 wired cable fell off(or loose, its keyed)
or wrong panel used, (hp makes many , only 1 works here)
the offical, service manual covers all POST errors
and is still free, to see at real HP at any time.
Hit F1 and PC will boot ok, even with that error.

see p23 here.... front_audio jack, bottom left mobo.
