Hello -
Depending upon where (in your home?) you use your Sony Vaio laptop (via WiFi?) you may need a WiFi booster or extender. Or, you may find that moving your WiFi router to another location in your home will improve your connection without diminishing the connections for other laptops used in your home.
Perhaps the information here will prove instructive:

Note: If the router needs to be moved in your home, you will probably need a technician for your Internet provider to come to your home to relocate it and connect it properly.

Try this, unplug, take out the battery wait a minute and put it back, then try a restart. If it still does the same thing, try holding down thw start button for ten seconds. Let me know what happens, I like to start small and not go overboard if this works, next thing we try is a restore. but try this first, thanks and i will be looking to see how you made out, Gym

i have some solutions..
1. if there's lots of walls between the router and your ps3 it may not detect the signal. i had a very weak signal until i moved some stuff around.
2. you can manually type in your wireless name and i think it should at least reconize it, and maybe connect.
3. make sure theres no firewalls or anything to block other connections from entering your signal.
thats all i can say, sorry im not a tech guy-only 17!

Try to re-configure your router for the wireless connection and disable WI-FI protected setup located at advanced.
