My TI- 92 crashed last night while computing a nasty integral. I've tried everything to reset it but nothing works. The last thing I saw the calculator do was flash (repetitively) Try ... End Try on the screen. Nothing I did would allow me to escape out of the error. Finally I pulled a battery and then replaced it. It came back on with a high contrast but would not allow me to adjust the contrast. Then, it shut down and never powered back on. I assumed this was a memory issue which required a full reset and so I removed all batteries, including the backup battery. Still, no luck. Is there any hope for my TI- 92, or do I simply need to lie it to rest?
Hello, I would not let it lie to rest yet. Play again with the contrast: Lower it so Press [diamond] key the green one beteen the [ON] and [2nd]. If that does not work it may be because by removing the batteries while the calculator is [ON] you might have pressed inadvertently a button on the keyboard, and that can lead to erasure of the OS. Besides, you cannot change all batteries at the same time:Backup batterie should be in and in good working order when you change main batteries. Similarly, main batteries should be in place when you change backup batteries.
There may yet be a chance to get it back to life and that is to install the operating system through a computer. You need the cable (TI SilverCable from Staples or Office Depot). You need to download The TI Connect Software from education.ti.com and install it on the computer.
After installing the software on the computer, run TI connect, then connect the calculator to the computer, and press the [ON] key. Usually it turns on as soon as you plug the TISilvercable into the calculator port.
In the TIConnect window there are several icons (TI device explorer, TI Screen Captrure ) You may try to use them to see if the calculator responds. If it does you calculator is not totally damaged). Whatever the results of the foregoing actions, you should try to install the OS.
At the top of the TIconnect windows there are 4 round buttons (2 green, 2 gray). Click the Update button. (you must be connected to the Internet) If it works, I congratulate you. If it does not, I have no idea what you might do next.

For the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage 200:
Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the Diamond Key key followed by pressing and releasing the [+] key; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the [-] key.
Users of the TI-89 Titanium or Voyage 200 should see the following case before performing the following reset procedure to prevent the loss of valuable Apps. On the TI-92 family or Voyage 200, hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key, then press and release the [on] key. On the TI-89 family, press and hold the [2nd] key, left arrow, and right arrow; then press and release the [on] key. This should reinitialize the operating system, in which you should see a progress bar filling on the screen.
Remove one of the AAA or AA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. TI-89, 92 Plus, or Voyage 200 users should see "Press I to install code...", and should press the [9] key. The calculator should then say, "Waiting to receive...". TI-89 Titanium users should see "Waiting to receive..." or "Waiting to received OS...".
Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.
Try spraying the threaded rod and gears with pure silicone spray and allow 10 minutes for it to dry before trying to raise the blade Use compressed air to blow out everything you can INCLUDING the motor Keeping thing blown clean with allow the unit to work better and last longer
if the power just shuts off for no reason when booted up,it may be the power source is on the way out ,it will work for a while, but keeps crashing, thats the first thing to replace
also make sure you hear the fans working
if it overheats it has a safty shutoff ,
you can also use a house fan, aimed inside the computer while open, to rule out power source
These instructions are from education.ti.org, and worked for me.
1) Take out one of the AAA batteries
2) Hold down the CLEAR button
3) Put the AAA battery back in while still holding down the CLEAR button
4) Let go of the CLEAR button and turn the calculator ON
5) Press CLEAR to get rid of the error message.
Then you should be good! All the applications on my calculator were still intact, so despite the error message, the RAM was never actually cleared.
