Locked out of my labtop

I set a password for my labtop but forgot the password. how do i get into my computer?

If it's a Windows password, then enter safe mode at start up by pressing F8, log in as administrator, from here you can clear any user passwords from the user accounts section. If this is a bios password you will need to contact Dell support directly for the master code to unlock the board.

    When you first start it, keep pressing F8 until it goes to Windows. It should take you to the safe mode. If is doesn't get back with me and we'll force it to safe mode.

    O.k. to force it into safe mode, take the battery out and start it. When you see the Windows screen with the loading bar, give it a second, then pull the plug before Windows loads, then restart. It should go to a screen that reads; Windows wasn't shut down properly, and ask you what you want to do. Choose safe mode.

Unlock Windows password with Windows built-in Administrator account.

Here's how this admin unlocks forgotten Windows password:
Start your computer and wait for the Windows Login or Welcome Screen. Once it shows, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and then type Administrator in the pop-up username box, but leave the password column blank. Next you could successfully log onto system. The following steps for resetting the forgotten password are quite easy. You can make it from "Start->Control Panel->Users Accounts".

How do i unlock my labtop with a cd or internet if i forgot my password
If you have forgotten your Windows login password then you can download a copy Hiren's Boot CD which is a CD image file (.ISO) then burn this to a blank CD and boot your laptop from this.

On the initial Hiren's boot menu, select the option for:
Offline NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 Password Changer
and then follow the guided prompts shown on the further menu panels.

This tool will allow you to reset your Windows login password to all blanks (i.e. no password).

If you have forgotten a BIOS level password then go to

and try the suggestions there for the specific make of BIOS that you have on your eMachines notebook.

is the password in the bios /// or in windows
if in windows you can.. if in the bios not as easy
if you can get to the motherboard some labtops still have a pull out pin that will erase the bios passwords

If you entered a password hint when you created the user account on your computer, then you can view the hint after entering an incorrect password. If not, and you have your original Apple restore disks, then you can reset your password by starting up from the cd. Put the CD into the drive and restart the computer by holding down the C key on your keyboard. When the computer restarts, click the Installer menu item at the top of the screen, then click Reset Password. Set the new password , then restart and voila, you're done.

There are several types of password lock ups.
If you forgot the password on the log on screen where it asks for the username and password, you need to do recovery on the computer with the recovery disc that comes with it.

If the lock up is upon powering on the computer where you can see a blue screen and asks for a password, it is a BIOS power on password and there is no way to bypass this. You need to send it to an authorized service provider to reset it.

If it is an HDD password upon boot up, sad to say, the HDD needs to be replaced.
