Dvp3982 is asking for password we do not have the pass word

Try using the password 136900. I know this is frustrating. Had the same thing happen, and had nearly given up on finding a solution.

If this password does work, then access the menu and chose the Disc Unlock. After making that selection, I havent had to use this code since..though after the frustration it caused, Im certainly not likely to forget it.

I'm having the SAME exact problem with mine. Is yours hooked up through HDMI? It happens to me with HDMI but if I hook it up through component it works just fine. I tried looking on the philips website to see if they had firmware updates, but they have NOTHING listed. I emailed them today to see if they have a fix for it. Waiting to here back from them...

When I put my daughter's Leap Frog brand DVD into our Phillips DVP392 player, it asks for a password. It doesn't do this for any other DVD. Ideas?

i think you should ask your daughter if she put passwords to lock the DVD.if not then its compatibility issue.i mean its not compatible or manufacturer encoded passwords to avoid piracy.
