I have a red light on my xbox and it told me to look for consumer support. what do i do

and what is on your display screen ?
some kind of error in different languages.named e73, E74 or what else

If your Xbox360 has one led section lit up red it means you are suffering from a hardware issue and the best bet is to contact microsoft as they extended the warranty for this issue, my recommendation is that you should contact microsoft and see what the warranty status is for your console. Unfortunately thats what they call the E74 error. You will need to call Microsoft at 1-800-4-My-Xbox for a replacement or repair. Most of the times it's free for the consumer such as yourself.

You should still be under warranty, follow the above url, and get a repair request in, it should be no charge.

This is going to sound like a very strange solution, but it worked for me, twice. My xbox 360 gave me the red ring of death once, and in my despair I asked a few friends about anything they can think of, and one suggested letting it run for 10 minutes while wrapped in a towel, or blanket. By that point I was desperate enough to try it (I had bought a refurbished one, so it wasn't under warranty anymore), and lo and behold, my xbox 360 is as good as new. Basically what you're doing is shocking the system into working via overheating... I know that doesn't make much sense, but, like I said before, it worked twice for me. Hope this helps!

You could try and lie. Just call and dont tell them its broken then get them to ship you another one.

Its worth a try..
