Have a Bosch shy56a05uc dishwasher that suddenly stopped working to a point. I believe it is related to the door latch switch, because I don't feel the door securely latch shut when I close it, and I also don't get any cycle lights or times registered on the LED readout. If I depress the on switch, the drain pump will start even with the door open, and, depending on how long I leave the switch on, water will start to fill in the dishwasher, open or not.

That sounds more like a gasket problem then a lock problem. Check the rubber seal on the door for damage. Even a small imperfection in the seal can cause the door to leak even though the lock is engaged.
Or is it that the door just won't close at all? If that's the case, check the locking mechanism to see if there's anything jammed in there. If so, remove it and that may fix the problem.
I tried the various solutions on this site with no success. Finally I wedged it shut with a nice clear plastic door stop. Worked perfect (who cares if people think it looks funny, I am not hand washing and still am not out any extra dollars)
Check the door latch mount - maybe the screws have come loose or the posts for the screws are broken. There is usually a microswitch that detects whether the door is properly latched; you don't want to defeat it unless you don't mind water all over the floor. It is possible the switch is out of adjustment, but make sure the latch is good first.
Hi- It is possible that the door latch is not completely engaging. If the door dropped the hinges may have bent a little thus preventing a good contact with door switch. Try pressing and holding the door shut, hard, and pressing start. If that works then replace the latch assembly. It is also possible the membrane switch got rattled with the door falling, or a wire is grounding out somewhere.
Hopefully it is just the latch. Hope this helps, good luck.
