Sounds like the engine is tired. Blue smoke is oil burning. Hard starting is oil on the spark plugs and/or low compression. This also can be due to someone adding too much oil. Sometimes, the carburetor Needle valve hangs u pa bit and the Crank case oil gets mixed with gas so now the oil level is high. Too much oil in a motor is bad too, that would cause theblue smoke too.
Never had a problem using the lowest octane gas in any outboard motor. Even the old two stroke where gas and oil are mixed, the lowest octane worked fine.
Hi, Check for a crankcase with oil in it on the motor...if you have oil in the motor already then you do not need to mix it in the gas... I am very sure that you will find this motor does not need the gas mixed... Run straight gas... usually it is good to run Prem in small motors..
all new homelite are run on a 40/1 mix i run mine at 30/1 i look at it this way,,,its a 2 stroke,,,it needs oil to stop it sezing up,,if i can see a little smoke then its got oil,,,mine is 15 years old and still going?????
If you use synthetic or newer oils, follow the recommendation of the oil manufacturer.
Being from 1939, a 2 stroke engine would have been designed to run leaded gas and a very unrefined oil that would burn easily in the combustion chamber. Today's gas and oils aren't even close to what they were in 1939.
If you use a synthetic oil, the mfg's recommendation is usually something like 50:1.
You blow up. Depends, does your bike have oil injection? Then you don't have to mix the oil in the gas, If it doesn't, then you will have to mix it in the tank. No lubrication in your engine, and I will give it about 10 mins before it seizes up from heat. And don't try to sneak motor oil in there in a pinch, because it won't work. Motor oil compared to 2 stoke oil is like 40 grit sandpaper to a babies ****. I'm talking rough. I use 2 stoke for everything, it is super lube. Hope this helps.
I believe you have the wrong GAS AND OIL MIXTURE. MOST WEED EATERS are a Ration of 90:1 or even less 75:1 For WEEDEATER I would use a 50:1 or if you choose 32:1 should work. Use a good 2-stroke oil. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER OIL> You see the more oil you use the harder it is to start. Don't forget to Pump the fuel Bulb on the side before trying to start it.About 3 x should do it. GOOD LUCK and it is and does effect me when their is death by a LOVED ONE. My prayers are with you! From Mddoc13 ( BOB)
you need to call a marine engine shop and ask them the proper mixture for that motor. To Much oil in the mix will only cause your motor to smoke excessively and may cause the plugs to foul quicker, but to little oil is when you start having problems. With to little oil you are not getting proper lubricarion, thats going to where all your mechanical parts like the piston, rings, cylinder walls, connecting rods, crankshaft, to wear really bad in a short period of time. Since there is so much friction from the parts wearing so fast thats going to generate heat, which is going to lead to locking up your motor. If no one can tell you the proper mixture just remember that it is safer to have to much oil in the mix than not enough, even though too much oil will make it look like your spraying for mosquitos with all the smoke. hope this helps.
