I'm not 100% sure whats going on, but i had a similar problem with my sisters computer the other day. The head on her hard drive crashed, which means that the part that reads the disk literally crashed into the disk surface, digging a groove and rendering it unreadable. It waould continuously reboot after that. The fix? buy a new hard drive. consult a professional and have them look first before you do that; ii don't want you to spend all that money on a new drive and have it still not work.

Toshiba Qosimo stopped on startup logo, unresponsive to commands

I used this same response in a previous solution....It mostly looks like your installation of Windows has been corrupted....some system files may have been affected. See if you can find the recovery disk for your machine. One of the things you can try is use the CD as your boot disk (you may need to enter the BIOS or SETUP to change the boot order...there will be a key to hit when you see the Toshiba splash screen when you first boot the will say press "<some key here>" to enter setup.)
Once you boot from the disk I would try getting to a command prompt and running the following command: chkdsk c: /f /r

This will scan and repair any bad sectors on your hard drive and if they can be repaired it may make your machine bootable again. If they cannot be repaired, it may be that your hard drive is dying. ither way...if you get into the machine (even from the boot disk) if you can see the drive, I'd recommend backing up whatever files you can, because if the drive dies, you will lose your data. You may also use a Linux LIVE CD ... this basically boots a version of linux from a disk rather than your hard drive, it may allow you to test hardware and back up files as necessary before thinking about reinstalling Windows.

When I Turn On My Inspiron 6400 It Comes Up With: BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del To Restart But When I Do The Same Thing Happens Again. Please Help

Hi it seems that your Operating System is corrupted, I can give you a link of step by step ways on how to recover it because for sure you got tons of important stuff saved in your computer but you would need you Operating System CD to do this step, but theres still a way for you to find out if "Repair your computer" is present in " Windows Advance Option, how? Just restart your computer and during its booting process , keep tapping on F8 until you will see the "Windows Advance Option" where you can find " Repair you computer" (Note: Sometimes its not there as your option, if that happens you will have no choice but to use your Operating Disc) then you would need this link as your guide... I hope this will help. (-_-)

My Dell Inspiron 6400 (purchased Nov. 2006) has become psychotic. This virus lets me open one file or program but then if I want to open up another file or anything, I have to restart the computer. So...

Turn off the computer, and make sure its unhooked from the internet.
On another computer, download the free Avast antivirus (, and put it on a flash drive, or CD.
Next start your computer in SafeMode. (If you don't see an option press F8 when your computer starts to boot, and select SafeMode from the boot options.)
After your computer has booted in SafeMode, put in the CD or flash drive and install the antivirus. After it installs do a full system scan. (If it ask to restart your computer let it, but make sure you boot in safe mode.)
This should get rid of the viruses on the system, and it will prevent future viruses.
Hope that helps,

Inspiron 1420 is not booting to windows

Re-boot, Keep tapping F8 until you get to a black screen, last known good is there, choose this, leave it to run,

or try again re-boot, choosing safe mode this time, if/when it boots, then a system restore in safe mode, go back in time.

If still no good, Your O/S disc is now needed,
boot with disc, go for a repair of the install,
Let it run it's course,

Toshiba Satellite A55-S306 doesn't come out of hybernation

Turn the PC on, when it is booting up, keep hitting "F8" until windows boot options come up, choose "Safe Mode" and then once it boots into safe mode fully, go to the start menu and choose shut down. After it shuts down, turn it back on and it should go back into normal mode. From now on, don't use Hibernate, its buggy and has been since XP.

Laptop ?

First try to boot in the safe mode, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key. If it boots into the safe mode, press the start button, shut down then select restart. If it will not boot normally then, repeat booting in the safe mode and once booted go to programs/accessorys/system tools/restore the select a restore point date that the computer was functioning correctly and restore for that date. If it will not boot the safe mode restart the computer with the system cd disk and restore from it. BPCS
