Hi tom2590

usually 3 short beeps is an indication that you have a bad memory module. try reseating the memory module and see if the laptop would run. also if you have 2 ram modules try removing the other one to test. hope this helps

I have a quanta 3082 MB in a HP Pavilion zd8230us laptop when I startup it beeps constantly got any ideas? anyone

The beeps with have a pattern to them. Listen closely when you first turn the laptop on and listen for the pattern. It might be something like 1-3-2 (1 beep, wait, 3 beeps in a row, wait, 2 beeps) It will repeat for listen for a bit to make sure you have the correct pattern. Once you have that pattern got to the HP webpage, in the support section, in the search type in "beep code errors". It will give you a list of beep patterns and tell you what the problem is. It could be the RAM, it could be another problem with the motherboard; those codes are what you need to have first.

Toshiba libretto 50 ct wont boot

I haven't encountered multiple beeps on shutdown - but multiple beeps on startup is usually an indication of a memory issue. Frequently can be resolved by simply taking memory modules out and re-inserting them.

If problem continues, may need to replace memory chip. If more than one chip, put one in at a time and startup to see which chip is causing the problem.

Not sure, based on your description of the problem, if this is the issue - but certainly worth a try.

Best of Luck!

Toshiba Satellite A200 - black screen at startup

1 long and 2 short beeps generally indicates an error with the display adaptor.

This may require either checking the video settings in your bios (but sounds like you already have), reseting BIOS defalts (again, sounds like you have done this) or may require a new motherboard.
