5 BLINKS means a short on the 140 volt line inside the set.

Usually this means the horizontal output transistor is shorted.

I can if you are able how to test for this and what to look for that may have caused this.

I am in California and online right now.

I have the same problem. The IC 4011 code is what I am understanding. If you could explain a bit about how to test the line, I would be grateful.

start at horz out transistor, look for dead short from collector to ground, that is 140 volt line.

The red "on" light is blinking and the TV

a suggestion: unplug set and try to turn on again; if power light blinks does it blink in a sequence?

3 blinks repeated will mean a problem in the Convergence area.

5 blinks repeated will mean a short on the 140 volt line.

These are the two most common error codes.

Upon arriving from work today, I noticed that the "red power light indicator" was flashing periodically in intervals. I tried to turn the set "On" but the TV does not want to turn...

unplug set and plug back, the blinking power light is a error code, watch it carefully, a sequence of three blinks, pause and three blinks is the most common, it is SHORT PROTECTION.

Five blinks and a pause and five blinks is short on 140 volt line.

Let me know what you find and I will offer suggestions for you.

LIGHT BLINKS 5 TIMES

I bought the shcematics for this set and they indicate that if the light blinks 5 times there is a problem with IC4016. I don't know which board that is on as the schematics were unfortunately incomplete.

If the front power light is blinking three times then your TV has a problem with the convergence. You can get the correct replacement parts and full step by step photo instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

Standby light blinking 3 times means a convergence error. The two convergence IC's need to be changed Panasonic part# C5AA00000203 (do not substitute with a generic STK#) This is about a $300-$400 repair.

Has anyone had problems with connecting an 'HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input,HDMI+ Audio output)' to a Panasonic PT-53TW53? I have a TiVo Premiere hooked up to my Panasonic PT-53TW53. I use the HDMI out, and RCA R+L outputs on the TiVo, and hook up to the digital in connections on the TV. The conversion of the HDMI out is via an HDMI to DVI cable. This has worked perfectly for years, but recently I wanted to disconnect the TiVo and replace with my Roku or Amazon Fire TV. Both have a single HDMI output. So I purchased an AGPtek HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input, HDMI+ Audio output) box, hooking up the HDMI output from the Roku or Fire TV to the input on the extractor/converter, and simply disconnecting the HDMI to DVI and RCA R+L outputs from the TiVo, and plugging them into the outputs on the converter/extractor. The converter/extractor has a 3 position switch: PASS, 2CH audio, or 5.1CH (via and SPDIF or Toslink cable). I have had 2 of these converter/extractors, and with both the Roku and Fire TV I got the same results with both converter/extractors: With the switch on 2CH, which is where I understand I should get HDMI video and 2CH RCA audio, all I get is the RCA audio. No video. If I switch to PASS I get video with no audio. Of course on the 5.1 setting I get nothing, since the TV does not support SPDIF. Yet I see reviews all over Amazon indicating folks are using this converter/extractor for this very purpose, and it is working fine. I can't possibly imagine that it is some sort of incompatibility issue with the TV, since the TiVo has worked (and continues to) fine for years. Any ideas?
