Samsung Syncmaster913v Monitor. The screen is totally black, but when I remove lead from computer it shows "Check Signal Cable" in colour. Also when I press Menu, in top left hand corner message says (in colour) "Test Good". The monitor has been working perfectly, but I do use the one monitor on a couple of different computers. Have I done something wrong????, is the monitor stuffed, is there anything I can do. I have also tested the monitor on two laptops that have screens that work, but the Samsung does not work with those either.

Hi!
Check the resolution you are using on the computers. The maximum resolution is1280 x 1024 for the syncmaster 913v. if your screen resolution goes beyond that on that computer then it would really show black. To test this as well is to restart the computer. Once you restart you are supposed to see the bios screen or the manufacturer's logo. Check again with the laptop. when you connected to the laptops did you set it to dual screen mode or to set it to show on that monitor. Try that as well. if you are able to see the bios screen and the laptop screen then I suggest you have your computer video card checked. If you were still not able to see those screens you need to have your monitor checked out.

Thank you and you have a great day!

If the color still works, and it works on other computers, there is something wrong with the computer in question. But this is not the case, so logically, something is wrong with the monitor. Check the cable for broken pins.

Check signal cables means there's no signal on input. If your PC still shows up on a different monitor then it's a time to replace a mainboard in your monitor.

It shows "check signal cable",

Hi, Hopefully you are seeing this error on the screen of your monitor. If that is the case,
do the following steps.
1 Shut down the computer. To do this, without looking at the monitor, hold the on/off button to your computer in for about 5 seconds. The computer should then shut down.
2 Shut off the monitor.
3 Unplug the video signal cable, the thick one that goes between between the computer and the monitor and then re-insert it observing not to bend any pins. There are two end screws that you will have to be loosened, although they may have not been tightened in the first place. When you reinsert the cable, hand tighten those screws.
4 If there is a similar connector on the back of the monitor, repeat step # 3.
5 Make sure that the signal cable is firmly attached to both the computer and the monitor. 5 Turn on the computer and see if it has solved the problem.
If it does not, examine the cable for signs of damage along it's length.
If it is damaged, replace it. you should be able to get a cable for stores like Best Buy, or possible from a friends old stack of cables.
Hope this helps,
Mark
