Question about Price Pfister Universal 0X8-310A Pressure Balanced Rough-In Valve for Tub

1 Answer

I installed a new Price Pfister 08 series tub & shower single control, pressure balancing valve body. The temperature adjustment is set at full travel for temperature. The water doesn't get very hot at the full hot setting. There is a note in the installation instructions that say adjustment gear is factory-set to prevent stem from reaching full hot position. Any solutions? Bad cartridge? Can another type of cartridge that opens to full hot position be installed in this valve body?

No and you can thank you government rep next time you see or talk to him for this. The valve is set to give no more than 110 to 115 degree water and cannot be changed. If you want hotter water you will need to install a non-scald faucet. Now if you are not getting to the 110 degree mark then you will need to disassemble the valve body and look for debris in the hot water inlet side.

Now when it is apart turn the water on low and flush the piping out before putting it back together.

Adjustment is usually on the valve assembly. Take off the big round trim ring and you will find the adjustment on the valve assembly or in the valve stem.

it may be very simple--you have to get your head underneath the tub spout and look to see if there is a "set screw" on it---if there is ,you unscrew it, which releases the screw holding the spout in place on the pipe coming out of the wall---jimmy it a bit and the spout will come off---don't yank too hard---if there is no set screw, then all you do is turn the whole tub-spout counterclockwise carefully, and unthread it from the pipe in the wall..replace w/ a new tub-spout--anywhere from $5 to $500

Water leaks out of shower head during tub use. valve was installed properly

The pipe to the tub spout is either restricted or the valve was placedd too high causing some of the water to come up and out of the shower head instead of it all flowing out of the spout.

It's likely that you have some sediment that has accumulated in the cold water valve and has clogged it. The model number you have cited above is only for the trim (rather than for the valves behind it). Assuming that you have a Price Pfister valve, they don't have built in filters, so you're probably going to have to either clean or replace the valve.

Price Pfister Shower--No water to shower

Does the tub spout water flow stop when the shower knob is pulled?

Was the systems pipping flushed before the shower head was installed?

It may be clogged, remove the shower head and then attempt to operate. If it is clogged you will see debris trapped in the screen at its connection point. The shower head can be disassembled - cleaned - reassembled

Is the shower head an adjustable type, that may be in the off position?

Good luck
